FLINT (WJRT) - (01/10/16) Several sites have been set up throughout the city of Flint for people to get the resources they need to get clean drinking water.
A press conference was held Sunday to update people on the plan for these water resource sites.
Community members can pick where bottled water, water filters, replacement cartridges, and home water testing kits for lead are available.
They are open seven days a week from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Starting on Tuesday water resource teams, consisting of MSP troopers and other state workers, will also start going door to door to make sure everyone in the city of Flint has the resources they need.
“The water resource teams will be handing out bottled water, water filters, replacement cartridges, and water testing kits. If by chance a resident is not at home when these teams stop by, a flyer with information would be left at their residence. And calling 211 is always a great resource for citizens to learn more information ." said Lt. Dave Kaiser with the Michigan State Police.
There is a plan to eventually have water stations set up at several churches in the city of Flint.
Those churches have not yet been decided.
Mayor Karen Weaver said they are working to get water to senior centers as well.
She also stressed for people to make sure they are picking up the home testing kits
“We're also stressing to people to get the test kits because we have to have the test kits so we can continue to monitor and assess where we are with our water. And so I don't want people to just come and get the water and the filters because that's really important. Because we need to know when we're at a point that oh o.k., you know, we're close to being able to use the water" said Weaver
If you have any questions concerning resources or have transportation issues call 211.
