Valerie specializes in the world of dating, relationships and aging issues, especially for those over 45, and her articles appear in many Canadian magazines and websites.

Her latest book - THE LATER DATER - A GUIDE FOR THE NEWLY SINGLE WOMAN OVER 50 is now available online. It's a helpful, honest and practical guide for women 50, 60 and over who are starting out again and want to know how to date and meet someone new in what can be a confusing, often complex, contemporary dating world.

Her last best-selling book Cougar: A Guide for Older women Dating Younger Men, launched the "Cougar" trend internationally in 2001.

She has been as a journalist in Europe and Canada for most of her adult life and while a columnist for the Toronto Sun, created the very first newspaper column written in Canada by a woman about sex and relationships. This was her very personal Intimacies column and the outspoken, honest, insightful commentary on modern sex and relationships made it one of the most popular reads in the paper and on the internet. She also co-wrote an equally popular column, S&M (Sex and Money) which was a unique combination of two hot subjects. Her advice column, Dear Val, gave readers experienced, realistic and honest answers to their love, sex and relationships problems.

Valerie lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She is currently single and enthusiastically exploring the joys (and many hazards!) of the contemporary dating world but, most of all, loves to help men and women meet and enjoy each other, no matter what their age.

Well....First let me say that any woman can feel sexy, not all female have the sexual wisdom, confidence and life experience that it takes to be considered a 'Cougar'. This book lays it down simply and clearly. I could not put it down when it came in the mail. I loved it. It covered just about all the areas concerning an older woman dating a younger man. I was pleasantly surprised by the candor in which it was written, as well as the illustrations throughout. In my personal opinion, it is a must read for any sophisticated woman who is considering dating out of her age group. More importantly, it is a must read for younger women who don't understand why some of the men in their generation are gravitating to older women. Information is power and if you have information you are armed with the necessary power to win in the "battle of the sexes." Good Luck..I am having the time of my life because it is not whether you win all the time - sometimes war games are fun.

This book is worth reading . Insightful about teaching women to just see sex for sex instead of wanting a commitment all the time. I found the book refreshing and helpful to change a way of thinking about relationships between women and men . As women get older there are many reasons why women do not always want a commitment and sometimes just getting laid is just what the doctor ordered. This book is a very simple read with humor !!

A fun read and a few good laughs! I enjoyed it for a fun evening read. Also some good tips if interested in a younger man.

I didnt agree with everything the book said because I have been researching the "cougar" "Cub" situation. Firsat I Hate the names, because Cougar sounds like a predator and I have Never gone looking for younger men and would NEVER in a million years pay or support one. I have two many running after me for that. There are different groups of "Cougars" and Im sorry to say there are some who buy men. On the average, you can ask all the younger men you like and most will tell you they prefer a woman who knows who and what she is not a fickle young girl who has no clue. Sorry to run on so much. The times they are a changing. LOL

It was exactly what I was looking for. It came in the time that was estimated.

This book is heavily based on stereotypes of older women and younger men. There isn't any useful information here for women or men. Nothing in the book is new, interesting, or fun.

I can't even remember why I bought this book in the first place when I was single. It's just not for me. Maybe I will give it to my mother-in-law.

A little too "pouncy", but really an interesting concept. I loved her self confidence! However, would like to have read about we older pre-cronehood cougars who don't look our age ect.

5.0 out of 5 stars what a little gem!! for the older womans book shelf!!

I bought this recently for a friend who shall we say is a older, attractive and sexy lady.It was part of a birthday gift. She loved it and we 'all' read it in our circle of older ladies.Having a younger man is much in vogue now and funnily enough, is more common than people think! The book gives tips and prospective on how this type of relationship works, within a family and also friends and work collegues. It states questions that will arise on your Couger relationship and how it can effect you and your younger partner. The book was both entertaining and had lots of tips.Ideal pressie for the woman on the prowl for a younger man or who is lucky enough to have snared one already!! A+++++
