CLEVELAND, Ohio - The median family income in Ohio’s wealthiest places of Indian Hill, New Albany and Pepper Pike tops $200,000.
Meanwhile, it’s below $40,000 in a handful of cities, including East Cleveland, Youngstown and Cleveland.

The difference between the two is that family income estimates are only for places where there are at least two family members living together. Overall household income typically is lower, often because people living alone are counted as households, as are friends such as college students living together in off-campus apartments.
The estimates are from the Census Bureau’s five-year American Community Survey, taken from 2014 through 2018 and released in mid-December. They are the latest available estimates for all places in the United States. In some cases, the estimates differ from one-year estimates released earlier for places of at least 65,000. Villages are not shown because of high margins of error for smaller places.
