Gavi’s Eduard Molnar joined the The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Vaccinations for All party's #WorldImmunizationWeek event in partnership with Results UK, UNICEF UK, Save the Children UK, The ONE Campaign and Malaria No More UK to discuss the future of vaccines: To date, Gavi has supported the immunisation of more than 1 billion children and saved over 17.3 million lives. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the UK as a longstanding partner, and largest sovereign donor, to Gavi’s core programmes. We thank our partners for this historic partnership and call for continued support to ensure we can achieve even greater milestones in our shared pursuit of global health and well-being, building a world where every child thrives! #AfricaVaccinationWeek presents a unique opportunity for countries in the Africa region to campaign for strengthened and effective immunisation delivery systems. Here Gavi’s Chioma Nwachukwu, Dr. Kelechi Uzor, Edwinah Orowe and Amal A. highlight 5 key priorities to get Africa’s post-pandemic health systems back on track:
-
Congratulations to the Republic of Syria for launching a #BigCatchUp vaccination campaign to reach 360,000 children who have missed out on immunisation! #HumanlyPossible Since the eve of #WorldImmunizationWeek on 21 April, nearly 15,000 health workers and vaccinators have been deployed to more than 1,000 sites to screen children’s vaccination status and immunise those who are unvaccinated. We’re proud to work with our partners UNICEF and World Health Organization to support the Ministry of Health to recover lost ground after the pandemic, reach and protect #zerodosechildren and strengthen routine immunisation.

We’re joining our partners Ministry of Health, Somalia, UNICEF and World Health Organization to mark #WorldImmunizationWeek by urging partners and donors to accelerate immunisation efforts to reach every child in Somalia: Somalia has made important progress with immunisation but challenges – such as recurrent outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases like #measles, #diphtheria and whooping cough – mean it’s imperative to accelerate efforts to improve coverage and reach #zerodosechildren. “I wish to reiterate Gavi’s commitment to continue its investment in vaccines and immunization to ensure equitable vaccination coverage across Somalia” - Gavi’s Patience Musanhu.

Though you probably don’t remember the exact moment you were immunised, it means you’re helping to prevent the spread of illnesses to others –– especially children in need around the world who are unable to receive their vaccines. Because of this, you’re helping to save lives every day. But for us all to be truly safe, we must reach everyone with vaccines Speak up and tell leaders it’s time for immunization for all. #HumanlyPossible World Health Organization UNICEF Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
