About us
The Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University specializes in molecular nutrition research, with an emphasis on vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals (plant-based chemicals). LPI was co-founded in 1973 by Linus Pauling, Ph.D., the only individual ever to win two unshared Nobel Prizes (Chemistry, 1954; Peace, 1962). Today the mission of the institute is to conduct rigorous scientific research and share evidence-based health information on diet and supplements with the public.

Don’t forget to mark April 24 on your calendar - that’s the date for this year’s Dam Proud Day! #DamProudDay is OSU’s annual day of giving. The Linus Pauling Institute is celebrating the day with a special webinar on the Top 10 Micronutrients for Optimal Health at 11:30 a.m. PST. Registration is required at https://lnkd.in/gS4b_G6F On April 24, gifts to any part of the Institute will help us reach our fundraising goals. We are highlighting two funds this year that perfectly encompass fundamental aspects of our mission: research into healthy aging and outreach about science-backed information on vitamins, minerals, and other compounds from food and supplements. Dam Proud Day is only 24 hours long, and we are counting on you to unlock special challenge gifts that will boost our research and outreach programs. We’ll be sharing more about these challenges soon!

This was such a fun evening with Michael Pollan - such an amazing advocate and story teller. Thanks Oregon State University and Oregon State University Foundation for the opportunity!
Last night, Linus Pauling Institute Director Emily Ho moderated an in-depth conversation with Michael Pollan, a bestselling author and sustainable food advocate. For more than 30 years, Pollan has been writing books and articles about the places where human and natural worlds intersect: on our plates, in our farms and gardens, and in our minds. The April 2nd event was part of the OSU Provost’s Lecture Series and was co-presented with the Oregon State University Foundation.
