Panel of historians meets to discuss 1857 memorial in Ambala
Ambala: Haryana chief minister's additional principal secretary and director general of information, public relations and languages department Amit Agrawal held a meeting with the committee of historians on Saturday to discuss early opening of 1857 (Shaheedi Smarak) War Heroes Memorial being established at Ambala Cantonment in 22 acres of land at a cost of about Rs 300 crore. Agrawal said that the inauguration of this grand memorial would be done in the second or third week of December (2022).

A committee of historians was specially formed by the Haryana government to verify and authenticate the historical facts to be displayed in this memorial, so that people can be aware of accurate information related to the 1857 freedom revolution. In the meeting, the historians did brainstorming in detail regarding how the history of 1857 would be displayed in this memorial.
The committee of historians include Prof Raghuvendra Tanwar, Chairman of Indian Council of History Research, prominent historian Prof Kapil Kumar, Director of National Museum Institute and vice-chancellor Prof Anupa Pandey, writer of military history books Col Yogendra Singh (Retired), archives officer of the National Museum of India Dr Devender Kumar and former head of the department of history at Sanatan Dharma Mahavidyalaya, Ambala, Udaivir.
In the meeting, the plan for the movement of visitors inside the Shaheedi Smarak of the "first war of independence" was finalised. This memorial, being built on 22 acres, is divided into four parts, in which the first part will be the administrative building, the second will be the museum building, the third is library and food court and the fourth part is an open air theatre.
