MARY LOUISE KELLY, host:

Our last word in business today comes from Spain, and it's numero uno.

Spain is not just the world's number one in soccer. It's now the world's biggest generator of solar energy. That title was previously held by the U.S., which, by one estimate, puts out 422 megawatts of energy. But Spain just opened a massive solar power station which boosts its overall output to 432 megawatts.

According Britain's Guardian newspaper, that's the same as a nuclear power station.

And that's the business news on MORNING EDITION, from NPR News. I'm Mary Louise Kelly.

RENEE MONTAGNE, host:

And I'm Renee Montagne.
