Kershaw Leek Knives

One of the most popular of Kershaw knife series, the Leek, has a slim, versatile, modified drop-point blade with good slicing capabilities. The high performing blade steels sharpen to a razor edge and hold the edge for a extended use. The three-inch blade is perfect for most tasks and the slim tip allows the knife to excel at piercing and detail work. SpeedSafe Assisted Opening allows for easy blade deployment with the use of a simple pull back on the ambidextrous flipper. The variety of colors are fade-resistant, scratch-resistant and permanently bonded to the anodized aluminum handle.

High-Performance Steel

Sandvik 14C28N steel is a high-performance steel with increased nitrogen in the formula for excellent corrosion resistance and hardness. The overall highest performing knife steel in the world that still maintains the productivity benefit of being fine-blankable, 14C28N steel is ideal for knife applications which place high demands on edge sharpness, edge stability and corrosion resistance.

Stonwashed Blade Finish

Depending on the knife’s design, Kershaw’s non-reflective stonewashed finish may be either pronounced or subtle, but in both cases, it transforms the blade by creating a fade-resistant, scuffed look that hides smudges and fingerprints. A stonewashed finish, achieved by tumbling a blade with ceramic stones, enhances a blade’s rugged appearance as well as its indestructibility during field use.

Fast Deployment

Using a torsion bar to move the blade out of the handle, Kershaw’s revolutionary SpeedSafe Assisted Opening system enables smooth, secure, fast one-handed blade deployment. Apply manual pressure to the flipper or thumb stud with a light push or pull back to overcome resistance of the torsion bar, and the blade opens smoothly and locks into place for confident handling without premature closure.

Convenient Pocketclip and Glassbreaker Tip

Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. The reversible pocketclip allows user to choose to carry knife tip-up or tip-down or to choose on which side knife carries. The user may select either a preferred tip position or a preferred carry side.

Additional Features

knife flippers, flip open, flip open knifes, switchblade knives, assisted opening knives

locking system, knife locking, locking knives, kershaw locking, secure locking

One-Handed Flipper

Knives with SpeedSafe open have two options for one-handed blade deployment. To activate the smooth, instant open, user can push a thumbstud or press a flipper. The flipper on SpeedSafe assisted knives is easy to operate by both left- and right-handed users. And, once blade swings open and locks into place, flipper either disappears for aesthetics or remains visible for added finger protection.

Durable Handle

Aluminum, anodized for color, hardness and additional protection, is very durable, stain and scratch resistant for strong knife handles. Anodizing changes the aluminum’s surface so a porous coating can be applied that will accept a colored dye. Anodized aluminum gives the knife bright, eye-catching, unique colors and provides a nice, hefty, solid feel to the knife without making the knife heavy.

Secure Locking System

With two steel plates, or liners, on the inside of each handle scale, the liner locking system safely secures the blade open and prevents unwanted blade closure. The lockbar butts up against the blade’s backend to prevent closure, and angles or is bent towards the blade tang creating a bias locked position. Apply manual force to move the lockbar to the side and fold the blade back into the handle. Designed to keep the blade inside the handle, the Kershaw Tip Lock system is featured on all Leek and Scallion SpeedSafe knives. This simple slider, when engaged, ensures the blade will not prematurely open if not in use. The Tip Lock system is located where the tip of the blade meets the handle scales in the closed position. A press of the thumb activates the Tip Lock for secure, safe knife use.

Product Description

Product Description

Remember when you said, "I wish you guys made a plain black Leek with a stonewashed blade?" This is it. Like other Leeks, it features a task-ready 3-inch blade, slim, easy-to-carry design, and cutting versatility. The modified drop-point blade makes it a good slicing knife, while the slim tip gives it excellent piercing and detail work capabilities. The Leek’s secure locking liner prevents accidental blade closure during use and a sliding tip-lock keeps the blade safely in the handle during transport. The cool stonewash blade finish does more than look good, it also hides scratches from daily wear and tear. You can look to Kershaw for everyday carrying knives that can tame any cardboard box and liberate any purchase from its plastic packaging, sporting knives that make hunting, fishing, watersports, and camping even better, work knives that won’t let you down, and tactical knives that ensure you’re ready for anything.

From the Manufacturer

Like other Leeks, the Stonewashed features a task-ready 3-inch blade, slim, easy-to-carry design and cutting versatility. The modified drop-point blade shape makes it a good slicing knife, while the slim tip gives it excellent piercing and detail work capabilities. Built of Sandvik 14C28N high-performance stainless steel, the Leeks blade comes razor sharp out of the box and holds its edge, too. We gave it a roughened up, stonewashed finish to hide scratches and for general cool looks. Of course, it also has Speed Safe assisted opening for fast and easy one-handed opening. Left- or right-handed, a simple pull back on the ambidextrous flipper or push outward on the thumb stud and the Leeks stonewashed blade is ready to go to work. A sturdy frame lock keeps the blade open during use and a Tip-Lock slider locks it closed when folded. The pocket clip is reversible for tip-up or tip-down carry and the handle is drilled to accept a lanyard. Made In The USA. Flipper: A protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle. Speed Safe: Assists you to open any Speed Safe knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumb stud or pull back on the flipper. Frame Lock: A portion of the handle (the knife frame) moves behind the blade to lock it into position during use. Reversible: Enables the user to change either the tip position or the side on which the knife carries.

Got this as a replacement for someone. The user uses it as a tool and snaps the tip of the blade off while working. These do have a warranties but it's 25 for a new blade and 7 for shipping and weeks to get it back so it's just easier to buy a new one. Opens fast, very sharp, and slim. Only downside really is that Amazon sent it in an envelope and not a box so the kershaw box got crushed.

I had a different Kershaw knife that I lost, but later found. I figured I'd get another one as backup, so this looked good. Upon receipt, I liked how it has a thin profile, the flip open has a touch of assistance to make it easier, and the blade is very sharp. I carry it every day, and like it better than the other knife, so I bought another one. The price seems reasonable, and the feel and function is very smooth.

I didn't understand the little plastic 'slide' lever at the bottom, it appears it can be slid down to prevent the blade from opening. But when it gets loose, it is in the way. It ended up falling out, but I don't need it. I also like that this knife has a black clip, so it is less noticeable in your pocket. I like to be low-key when possible. It helps to have a tool with you, throughout the day there are odds and ends it helps to open, nice vs. a pair of scissors or your fingernails, prevents paper cuts. I love it.

First off I want to say I am no knife snob by any means but I own a few mid range knives and this is my favorite BY FAR! This knife is extremely well designed more so than initially meets they eye. First the size is just right to easily fit in your pocket and big enough to do some serious work. It feels good in your hands and has a nice grip. The blade is made of a good quality steel and nicely sharpened out of the box. I love the shape of knife to, the fine point is great for stabbing into boxes or digging out slivers! Two things I have really come to appreciate about it that are not really advertised. I love the blade safety that prevents it from opening accidentally. Some of the knives I own do not have super stiff springs holding them closed (which would make them difficult to open) which always makes me nervous when I'm reaching into my pocket. I have even seen reviews here on amazon of people being cut by their own knifes reaching into their pockets because the blades were not quite closed. Can't happen with this knife. Secondly, guess which knife is easier to sharpen? One with a curved blade or a strait one like the leek has? Yup this knife is very easy to sharpen for that reason. Oh and did I mention it was made in the USA for a price equal to or lower than competing and often inferior quality foreign knives? I have only positive things to say about this knife.

I ordered this to try as an every day carry knife (EDC) and I like it a lot. It's really the perfect size for me and it's a good looking design. It's not too bulky in your pocket yet it has enough weight to not feel cheap and the fit and finish was good. This is a flipper with spring assist. Initially I wasn't sure I would like the spring assist but it turned out to be kind of fun. This particular model is a liner lock which I think looks a little nicer and is plenty strong enough for my needs. The Leek is also available as a frame lock and in a variety of materials and colors.

There is a small manual safety that locks the blade in the closed position. I never purposely used the safety but found on rare occasions that it engaged itself, probably by being bumped during carry. I prefer that my knife open when I pull the trigger, so I removed the safety altogether. In several months of carry I have yet to see it open accidentally. There is one minor safety issue that you might want to be aware of. The tip of the blade comes to a very sharp point. If you have large hands and the meaty part just below where your thumb attaches (Thenar) happens to be to close to the end of the handle where the tip emerges, it will cut you. Only happened once, I promise, and it was more of an embarrassment than an injury.

The pocket clip is reversible end-to-end but not side to side. If you carry tip up, which I prefer, the knife rides higher in your pocket leaving a little more than an inch showing. Carrying tip down would reduce that to about 1/2 inch showing above your pocket.

Overall, I love this knife enough that if I lost it today, I would have another one on order by tonight.

Everything I was looking for. It opens easily, and doesn't hurt my thumb on the button. The safety close is easy also and I can do it with one hand.
The blade is straight, so it can be sharpened easily.
It's thin, so fits comfy in my pocket.

Just what I wanted to buy.

(I had previously bought Smith & Wesson M&P SWMP1B 7.1in High Carbon and hated it.
Curved blade is hard to sharpen.
Opening button required painful pressure.
Can only be closed using 2 hands..... Hated it

WARNING:
I lent this to a friend for a few minutes, and told him to be careful, because it is wicket sharp. He cut himself with it.
A few months later, another friend on a boat near mine was splicing some line, and I handed him my knife when he said he needed one. I warned him that my other friend had cut himself, and to be extra careful. He cut himself accidentally with it.
A few weeks later, the guy on the other side of me on his boat was working and asked if he could borrow it.
I repeated the stories, and the warnings. He repeated the other's results.

This thing is shockingly sharp. Be careful. Bring bandages.
