Nestle USA issued a recall Thursday on some of its Nesquik chocolate powder because of a possible Salmonella risk. FDA

Nestle USA issued a recall Thursday on some of its Nesquik chocolate powder because of a possible Salmonella risk.

According to the recall, Nesquik in certain 10.9-, 21.8- and 40.7-ounce canisters produced in early October and sold across the country have been reported to contain Salmonella.

Nestle said its ingredient supplier Omaya Inc. recalled some of the calcium carbonate used in Nesquik due to possible Salmonella contamination.

"Nestle is removing the canisters from distribution because the company was notified by an ingredient supplier, Omya Inc., that it has issued a recall of certain lots of its ingredient, calcium carbonate, due to possible presence of salmonella," according to a Nestle statement.

No illnesses have been reported stemmed from the recall.

Products affected under the recall have a "Best if sold by" date of October 2014.

No other Nesquik products are in the recall.

Nestle said customers with products listed under the recall should dispose of the can, return it for a refund or contact Nestle Consumer Services at(800) 628-7679.
