It’s just three weeks until the new-look Principality Stadium is unveiled to the public.

The official launch of the Millennium Stadium under its new name will take place on Friday, January 22.

While the Millennium Stadium signs have already been removed from the outside the new signs will not be unveiled to the public until the official launch. The stadium’s first major event will be Wales’ RBS 6 Nations clash with Scotland on Saturday, February 13.

Preparations are well underway for the changeover .

The new logo has been unveiled and will be part of the new branding which will follow on Twitter, Facebook and the stadium and Welsh Rugby Union’s website. The new name is part of a 10-year deal between the Welsh Rugby Union and Principality Building Society.

The stadium has been known as the Millennium Stadium since 1999.

WRU Group Chief Executive Martyn Phillips said the new logo was devised with the help of stakeholders, staff and former players.

“This logo will represent Welsh rugby, Principality Building Society and the nation on the world stage for the next 10 years and it was vitally important to us all that it reflected the iconic status of our national ground.

“We engaged a varied panel of stakeholders for the final selection process, featuring staff, members and former players, as it was important for all parties that we ended up with an image that fans of Welsh rugby and potential visitors from around the globe could both understand and relate to.

Graeme Yorston, Group Chief Executive of Principality Building Society, said the new logo “reflects our refreshed brand”.
