This blender is a good value for the money. I got it on Amazon for about $30 and it works fine. I like that you can detatch the blade from the motor to clean it. Also, believe it or not, I like the fixed blade rather than some models I have had (like Bodum) that have interchangeable or removable blades. I really never had a reason to change the blade on it, and it just made one more thing that could come off and get lost. There are two speeds to work with. We used it at Thanksgiving to puree some cooked squash, and it worked great. A stick blender is not something you might use very often, but when you need one (like blending soup on the stovetop or pureeing vegetables in the pan) it's the best tool to get the job done.

Well one for myself at the local store. Liked it just fine. Bought six more from Amazon as Christmas gifts.

Motor is whisper quiet; with the blade attached makes just a very little noise, such that you wouldn't even wake up a sleeping baby in the room.

In a few seconds half a carton of frozen raspberries are totally blended so that only the seeds remain. Sets up fast, works best, cleans up fast. What more would I want.

As far as quality is concerned, I would say that you would not want to take it apart and reassemble it over and over again each day, or the four plastic tabs that hold the unit together will wear out and stop working. So, I keep mine all assembled and never take it apart. It should last for many years this way.

Highly recommend this product, if you are looking for a way to mix powders and fruits and yogurt and milk and things frozen in a big hurry without adding a lot of foam and suds to the mix.

I bought the KitchenAid KHB100OB Hand Blender, Onyx Black, as it was called in 2010, and it's still working great. I love it -- quiet motor, it can actually stand up without tipping over, very well made and sturdy. This is going to last, unlike the plastic blenders I've had in the past.

My only problem has to do with the plastic, or whatever material, disc between the blades and the shaft housing. I'm always careful about washing the parts that are submersible in my dishwater, so up till now I wasn't too concerned. But the other evening, I noticed that there may be something under the disc. I started scraped around it with my thumb nail and, yes, there was definitely something stuck in there. I continued to scrape between the disc and the shaft housing and bringing all kinds of ugly gunk (sorry, but that's the least obnoxious word I could think of) out of there. After doing this for about 15 minutes, my thumb nail was coming out clean, but I still felt there could be bacteria left behind.

So, I stood it in a pot of boiling water that reached half way up the metal shaft and boiled it for 5+ minutes. There now, I dare anything to be living in it any longer. At this point, I think the disc may not be plastic because it withstood the boiling water just fine. I also realize this is probably going to happen again and I'm going to be using my boiling method frequently. BTW, nothing was damaged by being boiled -- in fact, I think the blades run even smoother.

Great help to making food for our one year old son. Of course, I can just use the blender that I have been using for years. But, this hand blender is very handy and easy to use. Cleaning is easier than the blender, since cleaning of blender can be more work for the heavy glass and the sharp blazes that must be detached for cleaning.

Also, this hand blender is strong enough to make most of food to be blended. I like it and my wife likes it, and my son likes the food!!

I agree that this is a very solid, very well built hand blender. In my case I'm blending beverages with partial solids (butter, for example), but I didn't want to have to wash out a blender pitcher. This is small enough to fit into just about any cup, jar, pitcher or bowl. It's also easy to clean because of it size.

As noted, this is not really for batter mixing. You could do it if it were, say, not-overly-thick pancake mix. But the blade (which is not visible in photos) is too small to make enough of a centrifugal force if your mixture of whatever is too thick.

As far as the unit itself, it's not light but not overly heavy. The button is hold-down with two speeds. I didn't find it too hard to press and hold, but I can see with the weight of the unit and the button style, someone with arthritis or muscular problems not being able to use this effectively. If you're reasonably strong (i.e. you can handle a lawnmower and hold its handle down without letting go), you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever with the blender.

It's KitchenAid. Need I say more. It's quite heavy yes, its because it is a KitchenAid. It's designed to last forever. The lighter ones will last few months. They're like toys. I couldn't believe the price on this KitchenAid so I got this to make my soups. I do plan to accumulate as much KitchenAid products as I can. They are very durable and will last forever. It is just worth every $. These are investment pieces to have. I have always used a KitchenAid mixer and I can't use anything less than a KitchenAid. I don't work for this company btw. I am just sharing my first hand experience to people who are thinking of purchasing kitchen 'gadgets.' I have done my research and I wish you the best in doing yours.

So much better than imitations. It works great and grinds ice with no problem. I use it every morning for a breakfast shake with protein, yogurt, and frozen fruit and it works great. Easy to clean. I purchase a cheaper one previously and in less than 6 months was falling apart, literally. The pieces were separating from each other like it had no glue.

i bought this about 5-9 years ago and it's still going strong. it takes up less space than a blender, easier to wash, it can chomp ice. I always make smoothies with it and you can make soup too. I made a red pepper and potato and leek soup and this blended it super smooth.

highly recommended. it's expensive but lasts long. i did my research prior to buying and it paid off.

Wife likes it a lot so that's all that matters. She uses it for certain types of soup primarily. Her mother has the same one and has had it for a decade so I got her one and she is pretty happy with it so far. Can't say much.. Hand blending soup is outside my job description and above my husband paygrade.

I got this to make puree baby food and I am so happy with it. I tried the Baby Bullet first and that was just horrible - for about the same price, it came with so many useless parts and was barely powerful enough to blend applesauce. This, on the other hand, is super powerful and blends everything so quickly and efficiently. Everything comes out so smoothly after a few pulses.
