USA Dance: New York City Ballet (1965)
An assault on the alienation of modern industrial life, this film takes the viewer on a chilling tour of a paper factory. Set to dissonant music and accompanied by poetic and often abstract narration whose scope extends beyond problems of the factory to suggest the insanity of modern existence in general.--Peter De Domenico, 6/94.

I found this looking content to use in a music video. Luckily the content is excellent and I don't need the audio. I mean, Stravinsky can get a little angular tonally but actually the tape machine that played back the audio is busted? unfortunate because what we see here are some of the best ballet dancers of the era and the prelude to what I learned (after having previously ZERO interest in ballet but then researching this film) was a sort of one way love affair between the choreographer George Balanchine and the female dancer in the first and third pas de deux, Suzanne Farrell who was kind of the star of NYC Ballet and Balanchine's disgusting crush (she was barely 20, he's in his 60s). Anyway, he eventually fired her and her boyfriend from the NYC Ballet. He did however compose Agon for Arthur Miller (who is black and went on to found the Dance Theater of Harlem) and a white woman (in this film it is Suzanne Farrell again) which made a lot of people uncomfortable in 1955.
Any way, it's not often a archive.org film gets me this inspired to learn. Thanks so much!
