David W. Smit

David Smit is Professor of English at Kansas State University, where he directs the Expository Writing Program. He teaches courses in writing, especially writing about film, modern drama, Henry James, and film adaptation. He has published numerous articles on literary style composition theory, as well as a book, The Language of a Master: Theories of Style and the Late Writing of Henry James (Southern Illinois UP, 1988). Another book, The End of Composition Studies, is forthcoming from Southern Illinois UP. He is currently writing a book about the life and career of Ingrid Bergman.
