SMALL INTESTINE TRANSIT TIME IN THE NORMAL SMALL BOWEL STUDY

Abstract

The transit time of normal small bowel

studies was analyzed in 315 adult cases. The transit time ranged from 15 minutes to 5 hours. Eighty-three per cent of the cases had a transit time of less than 2 hours, and the mean transit time was 84 minutes. The transit time pattern was compared between male and female groups and younger and older age groups, revealing no significant differences.
