Dubai: Saudi Arabia will offer its citizens and residents the AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines, in addition to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, local media reported.

The move is part of the Kingdom’s efforts to stem the COVID-19 pandemic and return to normal life.

The Ministry of Health on Monday announced that it has approved the two new vaccines, and hence Saudi citizens and residents can opt for the AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines.

Moderna vaccine is characterized by its easy shipping and long-term storage conditions, the ministry said.

On December 17, the ministry launched the free Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination campaign, where more than 250,000 people have already received the vaccine. The ministry plans to ensure more than one million people inoculated with the vaccine in its first phase of the vaccination drive.
