HISTORY

Founded in 1986, HOME VISION ENTERTAINMENT was among the first companies to recognize the potential for classic cinema, arts, cultural and documentary programming in the home video market.

HOME VISION ENTERTAINMENT is the premiere distributor of foreign and classic feature films in North America representing renowned directors such as Kurosawa, Bergman and Fellini. Our audience is the discriminating viewer, who is interested in experiencing and collecting quality films in cassette and DVD. While we embrace the classics, we have identified contemporary films such as Lars Von Trier's Element of Crime, Abbas Kiarostami's Taste of Cherry and Liv Ullmann's Kristin Lavransdatter, that will stand the test of time. Our insistence on the highest standards of restoration, subtitling, and print quality make these highly collectable tapes and discs excellent sellers in the North American market. Of HOME VISION, critic Leonard Maltin says: "I can't think of a finer collection of international cinema."

The HOME VISION ENTERTAINMENT collection also showcases outstanding documentary programming such as the landmark BBC cultural series, Civilisation; U.S. public television's The Prize: The Epic Quest For Oil, Money & Power; MacNeil-Lehrer's The Story of English; and Cadillac Desert, a major primetime public television series produced by Columbia Tri-Star Television. >From the producer of Civilisation, Michael Gill, has come The Face of Russia, a series that seeks to illuminate the hearts and minds of the Russian people through their culture and art.

Art for Everyone is our motto. HOME VISION ENTERTAINMENT's breadth of visual arts titles, ranging from antiquities to modern masters worldwide, is unmatched anywhere. Programming encompasses profiles of painters, architects, sculptors, photographers and craftspeople as well as major cultural institutions such as The Hermitage, The Louvre and The Centre Georges Pompidou. From Rembrandt to Renoir, from Cassatt to Chihuly, from Picasso to Pollock, from Van Eyck to Van Gogh, HOME VISION's over 200 titles can satisfy the collector, the scholar, the museum visitor, or simply the just curious.
