Food Safety

Each year the many millions of fresh apples grown in the state of Washington are sent to markets around the world. After the annual fall harvest, our apples are carefully cleaned, sorted and then stored in cold rooms before being placed in cartons for eventual shipment to the ultimate consumer.

Traceability is a key component in any sound program of food safety. Each commercial carton of Washington apples is clearly marked as to its origin and may be easily traced back to the local firm first placing it in channels of trade.

The growers and packers of Washington know they have a special obligation to deliver a safe and nutritious product to the tables of their many valued customers. They are committed to following all state and federal regulations and laws pertaining to food safety. In fact these legal standards are often exceeded.

Apples are a symbol of good health. Our growers and shippers work hard each day to keep this as true a statement today as it has been for thousands of years.
