National Indoor Athletics Centre

The National Indoor Centre at UWIC was designed using the latest technology the centre has the flexibility and versatility to be transformed from an international athletics and multi sports venue to a bespoke event and exhibition centre.

The National Indoor Centre has 5,500 m2 of flat floor space, which can be fully carpeted offering the largest indoor facility of its type in Cardiff  with the ability to accommodate a capacity up to two thousand five hundred people.  A ten metre high ceiling, three phase power, lighting up to nine hundred and forty lux (television filming standard), and a built in PA and music system are available within the arena as standard.  The beauty of the National Indoor Centre as an event venue is its flexibility - the arena can be set up to suit clients specific requirements.  A cad plan can be designed to illustrate how each persons requirements can be accommodated within the centre.

The flexible nature and size of the arena makes this venue ideal for a variety of events. Combined with a wide range of first class conference and teaching facilities, extensive sports facilities, licensed bars, restaurants and bedrooms, the venue offers a first class facility for all types of events including exhibitions, product launches, trade shows, conference and corporate fun days.

The National Indoor Centre combined with other UWIC facilities make this a truly unique venue.
Prestigious events including BBC Tomorrows World Road show and UCAS Education Convention have been hosted at the National Indoor Centre.


UWIC Host BBC Tomorrow's World Roadshow
UWIC (University of Wales Institute, Cardiff) were proud to host the Welsh leg of the BBC Tomorrow’s World Roadshow at the new National Indoor Centre in Cardiff.   The Roadshow travelled around the UK over a 4 week period stopping at the NEC Birmingham, Earl’s Court London and the SECC Glasgow as well as the National Indoor Centre at UWIC.
   
The entire 5,500 sq metre arena at UWIC was set up to accommodate themed zones with numerous interactive, educational displays and the BBC TV Tomorrow’s World set. In excess of 12,000 school children and parents attended the event during the 4 days it was open and the Tomorrow’s World TV programme was televised live from the venue on the Wednesday evening.
