THREE of the five models of Acer laptop computers recalled by the Taiwanese brand for overheating problems are being sold in Singapore and affected.
Its spokesman in Singapore, Ms Florence Koh, its channel sales director, said a microphone cable near the left palm rest of the machine could overheat when pressed on.
'The cable may overheat, melt, and that may cause a burning smell,' she said, adding that the problem 'was not major'.
She added that the machine had only been launched for sale here since May this year.
Under the voluntary recall, Acer will collect the laptops from users, replace the affected parts for free and return the machines. Users can also drop the machines off at service centres as well.
Owners of the AS3810 line of machines can check if their laptops are affected by visiting www.acer.com.sg
