Cardiff City FC :: New Leckwith Stadium: Stadium Statistics/Trivia.

Here are some wierd and wonderful facts and stats concerning the new stadium project, provided by our friends at Laing O'Rourke. Enjoy! 

 

Project Milestones

·          Commence Main Contract Works – 29/10/2007

·          Complete Demolition works – Christmas 2007

·          Commence Piling – Early January 2008

·          Commence Steelwork – Mid March 2008

·          Complete Structure – Autumn 2008

·          Commence Cladding – Summer 2008

·          West Stand Weathertight – End October 2008

·          Commence M-E – Summer 2008

·          Fit-out Access Date – Christmas 2008

·          Power on Date – January 2009

·          Contract Completion - End of May for 09/10 Season 



Stadium Work

Car Parking

·          There are 1180 Home car parking spaces including 76 disabled spaces.

·          Circa 110 Away car parking spaces (to be instructed).

·          Circa 24 Away coach parking spaces (to be instructed). 

Drainage

·          There is 8.2Km of drainage pipework to be laid under the stadium and external car parking areas to carry the foul and storm water from the stadium project. 

Seats

There are 25, 785 seats in the stadium (Excluding Media) made up of the following: 

·          58 Chairman’s Seats

·          48 Directors Seats

·          168 Box Seats

·          1641 Premium Seats Upper Tier

·          609 Premium Seats Lower Tier

·          22,943 General Seats

·          168 Disabled Wheelchair Seats

·          150 Disabled Companion Seats

·          25, 823 Total Seats (Including 38 Media Spaces) 

Toilet Provision

There are:

·          275 WC’s

·          215 Basins

·          300 Urinals

·          30 Disabled WC’s We have endeavoured to use our local Supply Chain Partners for the stadium development. 

Piles 

·          There are over 2000 piles on the stadium, which at an average length of 15m, laid end to end would stretch 30Km in length. 

Steelwork

·          The total tonnage for the steelwork on the stadium is 3900 tonnes.

·          It will take some 60,000m² of paint to coat the steelwork which equates to the same areas as 8 football pitches.

·          There is anticipated to be 65,000 bolts used to fix the steelwork. 

Cladding

·          There is over 18,000m² of roof cladding which if laid end to end would cover almost 12 miles, twice the distance between the factory is will be fabricated at (Euroclad Wentloog, Cardiff) and the new Leckwith Stadium as the Bluebird flies. 

·          Based on the area of roof (18,000m²), the gutter system has been designed to collect 92,880 litres of rain water over a 2 minute storm period. 

·          There is circa 6000m² of insulated wall cladding running around the building which laid end to end would cover almost 4 miles, and there is almost 2.5 miles (4000m²) of GRP cladding. 

·          We estimate that we will use 235,000 cladding fixings and 2 miles of sealant tape on the new stadium. 

·          Allmass Cladding who are installing the roof and wall cladding which is 100E recyclable, reducing the environmental legacy at the end of the stadium life. 

·          Due to the cladding being 100E recyclable, you would have to recycle approximately 29 of the cladding panels used in the new stadium to equate to an average of 69,377 beers cans emptied on a match day by Cardiff City supporters. 

·          The weight of the steel cladding is over 121 tonnes, which equates to 1532 average football supporters, or 526,304 Clarks Pies. 

Pre-cast Terraces

·          There is a total of 7,425 tonnes of pre-cast concrete terrace and vomitory units within the stadium.

·          There are 2150 number pre-cast terrace units within the stadium, which contains 440 tonnes of rebar.

·          25Km of mastic sealant will be used to seal the pre-cast terrace units around the stadium.  

Blockwork

·          There is approximately 20,000m² of blockwork on the stadium project which laid in a single line would stretch 80Km or 50 miles. 

M-E

·          There will be circa 2345 light fittings on the stadium project and a 133 miles of cabling will be used in the electrical installation.

·          There will be approximately 5Km of pipework to be laid as part of the base build mechanical works on the stadium. 

Catering

·          10,000 loaf’s of bread, 100,000 sandwiches, and 250,000 rashers of bacon will be consumed on average by the labour force employed on site through the duration of the contract period.
