The UIUC Illini Space Jet design team is pursuing a viable air launch alternative to conventional vertical takeoff launch vehicles. Currently, it is proposed that the air launch type of launch vehicle will cost 5-10 times less of what the conventional launch vehicles use today. In order to reach our goal of building a full scale model of the aircraft, 1/30 and 1/10 scale models were built, with the 1/10 scale model just recently being flight tested. Check out the videos!!
