The latest twist in the never-ending saga that is the Beach Boys will find Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks playing at least two live shows by themselves.
As detailed by the L.A. Times, last month Wilson revealed that there would likely be no further touring with the full Beach Boys ensemble that had a busy 2012, as he, Jardine and Marks were effectively ‘fired’ from the band.
Said Love of the accusations that he ‘fired’ Wilson:
“I did not fire Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys. I cannot fire Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys. I am not his employer. I do not have such authority. And even if I did, I would never fire Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys. I love Brian Wilson.”
Wilson’s response to Love, as printed in the Los Angeles Times:
“By Mike not wanting or letting Al, David and me tour with the band, it sort of feels like we’re being fired.”
Anyway – Wilson, Jardine and Marks are scheduled to play two shows in July: at Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, Ohio on July 25th and the next day at the Ravina Festival in Highland Park, Illinois.
The story of the Beach Boys will inevitably end up with more updates, quotes, angry sentiments and more news in the future, so stay tuned!
