Hi-5

Hi-5 was launched in Australia in 1998 with five dynamic performers entertaining children aged 2-8 with music, movement, problem solving and play. More than 15 years later, the children’s musical group is well known around the world with an estimated audience of more than 10,000,000 children globally with its tours, music and TV shows.

Hi-5 has over 700 episodes featuring the Australian cast shown worldwide. Hi-5 has won three Logie Awards for Most Outstanding Children’s Program, five ARIA Awards for Best Children’s Album, five Australian DVD and Video Industry Awards an APRA Award, an AMIA Award and a Helpmann Award. The group also holds two Apollo Award Nominations for Best Music Composition for Hi-5 House Series 1 and 2. They won Best Preschool Programme at the Asian Television Awards in 2015 for Season 15.

Hi-5 joined World Vision in 2008 to help educate children and families on how they can make a difference to the lives of other children living in poverty. They use laughter, fun and play as a tool to educate children about the world, providing simple life lessons around topics such as hygiene and how good it to feels to help others less fortunate.

Hi-5 were fortunate enough to learn how access to clean water, sanitation, education and healthcare can transform children's futures when they visited World Vision's work in the Philippines in 2009, Cambodia in 2012 and Myanmar in 2015.

World Vision’s work

World Vision Australia works globally with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Our work in long-term community development, policy advocacy and change, and emergency relief addresses not only the symptoms of poverty, but also its complex and interrelated causes.

Hi-5 has a special interest in our work to protect vulnerable children from exploitation, neglect, violence and abuse. Our community-based approach creates a protective environment at every level – by educating children, supporting safe and nurturing families, supporting child protection systems in emergencies, and through advocacy for stronger laws and policies to protect children.

Stevie from Hi-5 gets a haircut in Myanmar!

When World Vision Australia Ambassadors Hi 5 visited Myanmar in 2015, they got an up close look at World Vision's work with communities! At a centre where young people can learn vocational skills for their future, Stevie got a haircut from his new friend Myohet. Myohet is one of 15 boys who received hair dressing training and have since been able to open their own businesses!
