General Information

At stake in this election:

  • Ugandans will elect a353 members of Parliament (MPs) who are directly elected to represent the 353 constituencies of Uganda, and 146 female district representatives. Various interest groups will also elect representatives to Parliament through an electoral college: five MPs representing youth, five for workers, five for persons with disabilities, 10 for the Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces and five for older persons (added in August 2020[1]). In total, 529 MPs will be elected.[2]

 

Description of electoral system:

  • MPs are elected in single-member constituencies through a simple majority system.
