Port Vale keeper Scott Brown was outstanding in the FA Cup game at Manchester City, but won't be keeping his shirt as a souvenir.

Instead the 34 year old is auctioning off his own top and the one he has received from City keeper Claudio Bravo for a cause very close to his heart.

Scott is inviting bids for his gloves, his Vale shirt signed by all the players and staff, plus Bravo's shirt to raise funds for Parkinsons UK.

He said this afternoon that he is just happy to be in a position to support the work of Parkinsons UK.

He added: "They do so much great work. I've got lots of shirts so if doing this helps the charity then that's great. This isn't about me, it is about them."

Scott's dad, Pete, a tennis coach, had Parkinson's disease in his final years before his death six years ago.

Talking about that in a feature with The Sentinel and StokeonTrentLive in September, the keeper explained: "He was the fittest man I knew and to see that happen was horrible. It was for about five years, for the first two years he was okay and then in the last three years you are going to visit him in a home. It was really difficult to watch someone you love disintegrate like that. Your mum and dad are your heroes and they were brilliant to me.

"My dad eventually passed on a Sunday morning and our little boy Max was born on the Friday. It was an incredible low to high, the strangest time of my life."

As Brown points out, Parkinson's affects people who have it in different ways, from far more mild to severe. His father died shortly before Brown signed for Aberdeen and the keeper supported local Parkinson's and also Alzheimer's charities there to the extent he won the club's Community  player of the year.
