    Excellent Travel Tripod!

    Excellent Travel Tripod!
I own two tripods- one large studio tripod that is far too big and heavy to use mobile; and this one. The Three Legged Thing Leo 2.0 is a GREAT tripod. In terms of size/weight this is definitely the best balance you could fit in a 57” tripod. Tripod ball head clamps tightly onto the camera (using the Three Legged Thing L Bracket) and holds well heavier lenses. Heaviest camera I use it for is Sony A7RiV/70-200.The tripod disassembles into a monopod which is nice for action photography or whenever you need more stability. The locks on the legs also hold very well and tripod is very sturdy WHEN you tighten all the connections properly. Slightly expensive but definitely worth the investment! The system is about as large as a 6’

I'm pretty new to photography and wasn't sure what to look for in a tripod but bought this to use with my Fuji XT-4. I wanted something lightweight and fairly compact and this seemed to meet my requirements.

Having used it 2 dozen or so times at this point I can say its easy to setup and break down, but does require a lot of twisting knobs on the legs. Price you pay for compactness I guess. The aluminum and carbon fiber feel very strong and high quality and It is very sturdy when all setup even with heavy lenses it doesn't budge as long as everything is tight. It comes with a nice carrying bag as well.

If I lost it I can't say for sure I'd buy it again, but it would certainly be my starting point in a new search and what I compare any other tripods to.

I really like this tripod. It folds up small and compact and is sturdy enough for my camera, even on windy days. And, the tripod comes with a very serviceable ball head. That said, there are a few negatives: (1) there is a collar around the top of the tripod that has three inviting loops/rings to attach a strap to for easy carrying. I used a Peak Design camera strap with their anchor links ... the finish of these metal loops is so tight it will easily cut your anchor links, and (2) footware is expensive

First of all this tripod is pretty just look at it.
very well made. You can see that there's a brain behind the design. EVERY, and I mean every part and every feature works. Which is something you can't say from other similar tripods.

Everything is user friendly, anatomical and in the right position. It is also very easy to set up and even easier to use.

The materials you can feel that is first class and well made. The only down side is the price, but according to the rule, you get what you pay. And with tripod you pay a lot, but you also get a lot. You get a very well made tripod that will not disappoint you. I recommend.

Fast setup, easy extension releases on the carbon fiber legs. The feel of it is as sturdy as the feel of a car door slamming back in 1974. I have owned Manfrotto and Vanguard tripods over the last 40 years, and both are great products. But this tripod is by far the best constructed, easiest to use I have ever owned or borrowed.

I bought this for my arctic circle trip and I am glad that I test it for a bit before I decided to keep this product and then I realized that the clamp had some paint scratches and the level that you lock the clamp was loose. I don't know if it is supposed to be like that or it was a defect but I did not want to take a chance of taking it with me all the way and find out later.
I have had two other 3LT tripods and both of those have the twist lock on the clamp as opposed to the level type on this. The twist lock on my other two (that aluminum and heavier so I did not want to take them on the long trip north) work perfectly and I even thought about take one off of those and putting them on this tripod but then I thought this is a $350 tripod and it should work like one.
Now that I made my complaints let me tell you about the tripod.
It is beautiful like other 3LT tripods and it sets itself apart from other tripods. The colored aluminum parts are gorgeous and nicely matched colors. The tripod itself is not very large and the legs are super skinny and you almost feel like it cannot stand the weight but according the specs it should handle up to about 40 lbs so no problems there. The biggest issue is that it has 4 twist locks on each leg so you are looking at unlocking and locking 12 of those to setup the tripod and we are not even talking about the two more on the center column. The sections of each leg are small but because it is so thin they made it into 4 sections to add stability. Another issue I had was that the twist locks are aligning so it looks really weird when you fold it. In the photos they are all aligned but in reality they are not.
The level lock on the clamp was loose and before locking but after locks in place it does not wobble anymore.
I know this is a travel tripod but to me it lacked the quality and the fact that the clamp was somehow damaged I decided to return it and go with Rhino from Benro. Perhaps I would have kept it if it was not defective or damaged but the box falling apart and the clamp defect made the decision for me. I think 3LT is one of the best tripod or camera accessory companies but I was kind of disappointed in this model and I think my Punk series Corey is even better than this.

I love this tripod. I have used it on a few trips already (owned for 2 months). It was sturdy in extremely strong winds in joshua tree. It was able to grip on rocks, sand, grass, concrete. The head mount is so sturdy, I love that it clamps down and locks. It is also extremely smooth and easy to tilt and pan your camera in any direction. It is incredibly light and folds up quite easy. It will take a bit of tinkering to get used to how everything works and since everything is modular sometimes things will unscrew that you didn't intend to. Also, it's easy to put it back together incorrectly if you pull it apart. Still a five star tripod because as soon as I got over that learning curve this "thing" is perfect.

I've only used this bad boy for 2 weeks now but I love everything about it. It takes a few uses until you learn how to loosen & tighten the legs in a comfortable way, but once you've done it a few times it becomes second nature.
Every part feels high quality and well thought out, can't wait to take it on a few hikes.
