Veganism: A philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.

Thanks for your short novel. We're framing this!

A couple that I’ve read and enjoyed recently include Metazoa by Peter Godfrey-Smith, and What a Fish Knows by Jonathan Balcombe. I’m also reading The End of Alzheimers by Dale Bredesen which I find fascinating as so many diseases including this one links back to inflammation which as we know can be influenced by nutrition. Another current favorite is Undo It by Dean Ornish.
I eat a lot of Beyond Meat. I live in Los Angeles and while I definitely have all the access I need to our latest products here at our labs and kitchen (I’m impatient to get those out to consumers :) ), I also love to visit our restaurant partners throughout Los Angeles. My kids are involved in sports here in LA so there is a lot of commuting to various places and I’m happy to report I probably frequent our restaurant partners 5+ times a week. At Carl’s my son gets two 2 burgers at a time (BBQ) and my favorite at Del Taco is the Beyond Avocado Taco (soft shell, never get tired of it!).
I am super excited about this launch. Consumers generally pull away from beef first when they are reducing meat consumption but it’s interesting to see a growing number of consumers also now looking for plant-based chicken. It’s an interesting project as it's a different muscle structure than beef, so the development process internally was different. But I am very proud of our team with this latest launch. We recently won a number of awards for the Beyond Burger, here in the US and in the EU. And when we re-entered the chicken market, we wanted to make sure that we could do so with a product that delighted consumers. When we entered our first major show, held by the National Restaurant Association, Beyond Chicken Tenders won the FABI award. So it was nice to see that the team in both platforms is being recognized.
I also like this product’s health profile with 40% less sat fat than the leading foodservice chicken tender even as we deliver 14 grams of protein, and the fact that we are using Faba Bean protein as the main source of amino acids, and that it is of course free of GMOs.
