I love mildly spicy additions to food. Hence, I love onions and garlic, but not so much the really hot stuff, like jalapenos and such. These onion flakes make the perfect addition (for me) to things like eggs, sauteed vegetables, mashed potatoes and the like. They brown up wonderfully, or you can simply add them into the recipe just about wherever you want to! If you want them a tiny bit crunchier, add them later; if you prefer then to be chewier, add them in earlier. Great product at a very reasonable price!

Had 3 months so far, and used 2-3 times a week (max: 1/4 cup at a time)

What I like: Only ingredient is onions (no stabilizers, additives) with no chopping, clean-up, or garbage leftover, it taste like dried white onions (good flavor), it re-hydrates easily, and it lasts a long time (label says lasts '1 year after opening, or 25 years if unopened'...so 1 can lasts 1 person 1 year as 'flavor' in stews, soups, rices, baked meats in broth).

I don't like: Not good for onion-heavy dishes (i.e., onion rings, slices onion recipes, onion tarts...in my opinion), it doesn't re-hydrate to the crispness (stiffness) needed.

I will buy again.
--> I found its easier to add the dry onions in with the other ingredients and the liquid when cooking (i.e., not re-hydrate onions first), plus the 'next day left-overs' taste more flavorful than the evening before.
Hope this helps someone.

Even though I use a lot of fresh onions, I find that sometimes I need extra in my soups and stews. This large can is wonderful for filling up my smaller shakers. So cost-effective and the flavor is perfect.

If you sort reviews by most recent, one of the reviews says that their can is way over expiration. They included a pic, and I can see that they misinterpreted the info. Theirs says that the LOT (batch) date is Nov 2021 (09Nov21), but if you look over a little, the EXPIRATION date is still TWENTY FIVE years out! 2046! (09Nov46).

Many emergency food companies use #10 (as in, number 10, not 10 pound). So various weights of food will be packed in these standard containers whether it fills up or not. That means it is possible to have a full can of one style of food, and half a can of another style. Ultimately you are buying weight, not volume. You are not being gipped. You are only being gipped if the weight comes in lower than stated on package. Companies can give more, but they are not supposed to allow less (FYI, next time you go to the store you may be able to get more bang for buck by weighing a 2lb bag of carrots. It could be pushing 3 lbs depending on what you grab for. It just cant be less than 2 lbs, stuff like that.. )

Anway, I bought this as emergency food. I only buy emergency food when on sale, and am slowly amassing a stock. I normally stick to normal canned stuff, bagged stuff, and rotate through my short term and long term pantry. But when I see an emergency food item, I will pick it up if the price it right. When it comes to these onions, I figured I would grab a can since it was on sale, and happened to be less than cost of my usual bagged dehydrated onions. I have no intention to open it any time soon. Can looks good, weight seems spot on. No issues or concerns at this time.

I don't understand why this is so overpriced and expensive. Also said 217 servings, which is BS. I used it 4 times iny meal prep and it's empty. You can buy dehydrated onion for way cheaper than this, I wouldn't waste the money. I think their big thing is extended shelf life because of the vacuum sealed metal tin. So if you want to store it for 10 years in your bunker, then this is the stuff for you. Otherwise, get the cheaper stuff.
