As of February 2023, I am frequently busy with the two magazines/websites I publish (thechambergmagazine.com and ruralfictionmagazine.wordpress.com), I still find some time to focus on my own writing and am trying to finish two novels and a novella at this point. Visit my personal blog (its posts are repeated in the blog section below and a link to it is provided) for more details on my writing progress and philosophy.

The magazines are going great guns and I am receiving a lot of contributions and praise on each. Please visit at least one if you have the chance.

Currently, I have three short fiction anthologies, a poetry anthology, and two novelettes available on Kindle and one short story collection (A Tale of Hell and Other Works of Horro

Stories vs. Story Lines: An idea occurred to me just now. I was scheduling the story [image error] [image error]

An idea occurred to me just now. I was scheduling the story “A Finger in the Stream of Time” by Mike Lee to appear later today in The Chamber. In one phase of the story, the main character and others are shooting pool. I used a photo of a pool player lining up a shot of the eight-ball into a corner pocket as the usual illustration. I was thinking about stories and t

“I like the word ‘decadent,’ all shimmering with purple and gold … it throws out the brilliance of flames and the gleam of precious stones. It is made up of carnal spirit and unhappy flesh and of all the violent splendors of the Lower Empire; it conjures up the paint of the courtesans, the sports of the circus, the breath of the tamers of animals, the bounding of wild beasts, the collapse among the flames of races exhausted by the power of feeling, to the invading sound of enemy trumpets. The decadence is Sardanapalus lighting the fire in the midst of his women, it is Seneca declaiming poetry as he opens his veins, it is Petronius masking his agony with flowers.”

Topics Mentioning This Author

John Milton
“The mind is a universe and can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.”
John Milton

Hanns Heinz Ewers
“And in the livid night there creeps a basilisk, spawned by the moon after its strange fashion. The moon – eternally barren - is its father, but its mother is the sand, barren likewise: this is the mystery of the desert. Many say that it is an animal, but this is not so, it is a thought, growing there where there is no earth and no seed: a thought which sprang from that which is eternally barren, and now assumes strange forms which life does not know. This is the reason that no one can describe this being, because it is like nothingness, indescribable.”
Hanns Heinz Ewers, Alraune

Douglas Adams
“I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.”
Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time

Ernest Hemingway
“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
Ernest Hemingway

Stephen King
“If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”
Stephen King
