Abstract

Age-related cardiovascular pathologic changes are inevitable and cardiovascular diseases are common in many older patients. Thus, in order to effectively treat geriatric patients, anesthesiologists should be able to recognize the contributions of both normal aging and overt disease to decrease cardiovascular reserve as well as understand the impact of anesthesia on cardiovascular homeostasis in the elderly.
