#drugresistance resistance will significantly compound the health impacts of #climatechange. Yet, current forecasts and mitigation efforts fail to take this into account, nor the impact #climatechange will have on #antibioticresistance. In the run up to the #UN High-Level Meeting on #AMR, that urgently needs to change. Read more about this by Dr Manica Balasegaram in Project Syndicate https://prosyn.org/4Rhwy8e

CO₂ emissions must go to near-zero, fast. #Degrowth tells us GDP is the culprit and that it must decline. OK, thought experiment: Let's cut CO₂ by (only) half by 2050, and let's do it by slashing GDP in the rich world. By 2030, G7 per capita GDP will be that of South Sudan today. Avoiding climate catastrophe requires doing more, not less. That doesn't mean GDP growth über alles. It just means it's the wrong metric on which to focus. But yes, the energy efficiency & clean energy investments necessary to slash CO₂ necessarily mean economic growth.
