I am humbled by the responsibility bestowed on me as President of the European Parliament. Our House of Democracy will continue to stand up for our European values and for our Europe. This project belongs to all of us.

Today, the European Parliament marked the 20th anniversary from the European Union's largest enlargement of 2004. In her speech, President Roberta Metsola said that whilst Europe may have changed each one of its Member States since 2004, each and every one of those Member States has equally changed Europe.
This week, the European Parliament will be holding the last Plenary Session of this legislature. In her address, President Roberta Metsola referred to the achievements of the Parliament in the last 5 years, and appealed to Members to encourage people to go out and vote in the European elections in June.
Opening the Plenary Session in Strasbourg, the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola condemned the arrest of Swedish nationals Johan Floderus and Professor Ahmadreza Djalali by the Iranian regime.
During a solemn ceremony in Portugal, the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Lisbon.
