Mrs Cha is Chairman of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd and a member of the Hong Kong-United States Business Council.
Mrs Cha is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of Ant Group Co., Ltd. , a Senior International Advisor of Foundation Assets Management Sweden AB and a member of Sotheby’s International Advisory Board. In addition, she is also Vice Chairman of the International Advisory Council of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, and a Director of the World Federation of Exchanges.
Mrs Cha became the first, and to-date, the only person outside Mainland China to join the Central Government of the People’s Republic of China at the vice ministerial rank when she was appointed as Vice Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission in January 2001. She served in that position until 2004. Mrs Cha worked for the Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong from 1991 to 2000, becoming its Deputy Chairman in 1998.
Mrs Cha was a member of Executive Council of the Government of Hong Kong from 2004 to 2022. She was also Chairman of The Financial Services Development Council of Hong Kong from January 2013 to July 2018, and Chairman of the University Grants Committee from 2007 to 2011.
She was awarded a Silver Bauhinia Star in 2001, a Gold Bauhinia Star in 2009 and the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2017 by the Hong Kong Government for her public service.
Sam Bankman-Fried is an MIT graduate with a degree in physics who started his career in financial markets with Jane Street. He traded a variety of ETFs, futures, currencies, and equities, and designed their automated OTC trading system. After Jane Street, he founded the quantitative trading firm Alameda Research. During his time at Alameda, he and his colleagues noticed that the technology from cryptocurrency exchanges for institutional investors could be better. As a result, he created FTX in 2019, which is now the largest crypto trading exchange outside China. Beginning during his time at MIT and continuing throughout his professional career, Sam has been a believer in effective altruism in which he has dedicated his time to maximizing his earnings in order to affect as much positive change in the world as possible. Over the past decade, Sam has donated to initiatives that focus on animal rights, climate change and more.
Bill Winters was appointed to the Board of Standard Chartered PLC as Group Chief Executive on 10 June 2015, having joined the Group in May 2015. He is based in London.
Bill has had a distinguished career in banking, having spent 26 years with JP Morgan in diverse leadership roles, becoming co-Chief Executive Officer of the investment bank in 2004 until he stepped down in 2009. Bill was the only career banker to be invited to be a committee member of the Independent Commission on Banking, established by the UK government in 2010 to recommend ways to improve competition and financial stability in banking. Subsequently, he served as advisor to the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards and was asked by the Court of the Bank of England to complete an independent review of the bank’s liquidity operations. Bill founded the private credit fund Renshaw Bay in 2011 where he was Chairman and CEO until he stepped down from the company on appointment to the Standard Chartered PLC Board.
Bill is deeply engaged in driving the climate finance agenda. Under his leadership, Standard Chartered chairs the Net Zero Banking Alliance. Bill chaired the Taskforce for Scaling Voluntary Carbon Markets, a global private-sector initiative that developed a roadmap to scale high-integrity carbon markets. Bill also co-Chairs the B20 Taskforce for Finance & Infrastructure, which has a special focus on unlocking finance for green infrastructure.
Bill is an independent non-executive director of Novartis International AG.
Kai-Fu Lee is the Chairman and CEO of Sinovation Ventures, co-author of NY Times Bestseller AI Superpowers and acclaimed recent book AI 2041: Ten Visions For Our Future. Lee was formerly the president of Google China and a senior executive at Microsoft, SGI, and Apple. Lee is co-chair of the Artificial Intelligence Council at the World Economic Forum. He is an authority on artificial intelligence, global technology trends and investing in China.
Patrick Chappatte draws for the Swiss newspapers Le Temps in Geneva and Neue Zürcher Zeitung. He also works for Le Canard Enchaîné in France, Der Spiegel magazine in Germany and the Boston Globe in the United States. For almost 20 years he was the regular cartoonist for the International Herald Tribune and the New York Times, until the later newspaper decided to stop publishing political cartoons in 2019.
Chappatte is also a pioneer of cartoon reportage, with more than thirty published reports, from Nairobi' slums to Guatemala's gangs, as well as American death rows.
For the past fifteen years, with the help of the Swiss Foreign Office, he has been organizing "Plumes croisées" projects all around the world, to encourage a dialogue on Human Rights through drawings. Chappatte chairs the Freedom Cartoonists foundation in Geneva (formerly the Swiss Cartooning for Peace Foundation) which, together with the City of Geneva, awards the biennial International Editorial Cartoon Award. Kofi Annan used to be the Foundation's honorary president.

As Founder and Chairman, Dr Andrew Forrest has led Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) from inception to a US$60 billion listed natural resources company that’s invested US$40+ billion developing some of the world’s most efficient infrastructure. In 2021, Fortescue announced its commitment to become zero-emissions by 2030, and created Fortescue Future Industries (FFI), a developer, financier, and operator of a global portfolio of renewable energy resources to produce green energy at a scale equal to the oil and gas super-majors.
FFI is leading the green industrial revolution, developing technology solutions for hard-to-decarbonise industries, while building a global portfolio of renewable green hydrogen and green ammonia projects to produce 15 million tonnes per year of green hydrogen by 2030, rising to 50 million tonnes per year in the decade thereafter.
In 2001, Andrew co-founded Minderoo Foundation with his wife Nicola, and to date they’ve donated more than US$1.8 billion supporting 300+ initiatives addressing modern slavery, ocean health, cancer, indigenous disparity, childhood development, artificial intelligence, disaster resilience, and plastic waste.
Dr Forrest’s commercial business, Tattarang, is backing new renewable green energy projects including WindLab wind power and SunCable solar power and expanding sustainable and carbon-neutral practices within agri-food business Harvest Road.
Dr Forrest has a PhD in Marine Ecology from the University of Western Australia, and serves as an IUCN Patron of Nature, a World Economic Forum Friend of Ocean Action, and a member of the United Nations Environment Program’s Scientific Advisory Committee on the Assessment on Marine Litter and Microplastics.
Dr. Forrest is Co-Chair of the Australia-China Senior Business Leaders’ Forum, Global Patron of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, and served as a Councillor of the Global Citizen Commission charged by the United Nations in 2016 to modernise the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In 2017, Dr Forrest was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to philanthropy, mining, employment, and sustainable foreign investment.
Ruth joined Google as SVP and CFO in May 2015 and has held the same title at Alphabet since its creation in October 2015. Prior to Google, Ruth was EVP and CFO of Morgan Stanley. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Blackstone Inc., the Stanford Management Company and the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Board of Trustees of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She previously spent ten years on Stanford University’s Board of Trustees. Ruth holds a BA from Stanford University, an MSc from The London School of Economics and an MBA from the Wharton School.
Harry is the Global Chief Information Officer at Zoom where he has been for four years. Prior to this he was Chief Information Officer, Managing Director at KPMG for 5+ years. Before joining KPMG, Harry served as CIO & Senior Managing Director − Partner for The Blackstone Group, where he led the company’s transformation to the world’s best digital alternative asset manager
He has also served as Managing Director and CIO of Global Investment Banking for Credit Suisse and CTO & Managing Director for UBS Americas.
Harry has been inducted into CIO Magazine’s Hall of Fame, recognized as one of the world’s top 100 CIOs by Computerworld, and honored by Irish Magazine as one of its Annual Wall Street 50. Harry is an Advisory Board Member of the New York Center for Dental Restorative Services and a former member of the Advisory Board of the New York City Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Joanna is passionate about creating responsible technology that benefits humanity. She has spent her professional life building companies, products and platforms that have transformed markets and reshaped industries. She is CEO of BenevolentAI since 2018 and has accelerated the company’s growth and transformation from a startup to a clinical-stage, AI-enabled drug discovery company. Joanna has over three decades of experience leading some of the world's best known technology companies, including Facebook, Bebo/Aol and Google. Prior to joining BenevolentAI, Joanna served in the UK Government as Under Secretary of State and Minister for Internet Safety & Security, Digital Economy Adviser, UK Ambassador for Digital Industries and Chair/CEO of TechCityUK. Joanna is the founder of the WeProtect Global Alliance, serves as the Co-Chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) and is a Life Peer of the House of Lords.
Dr. Lucas Joppa is Microsoft’s first Chief Environmental Officer, leading the company’s sustainability efforts through technology innovation, program development, policy advancement, and global operational excellence. With a Ph.D. in Ecology from Duke University, extensive publications in leading academic journals, and recognition by Fortune magazine in its “40 Under 40” list, Dr. Joppa is a uniquely accredited voice for sustainability in the tech industry.
In 2020, Dr. Joppa was named to Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers list in the environment and ecology fields. He is an Associate Editor in Chief for the Ecological Society of America’s EcoSphere journal and an honorary Fellow at the UN Environment Program World Conservation Monitoring Center (UNEP-WCMC), and he serves on the boards of leading scientific organizations.
In 2017, he founded Microsoft’s AI for Earth program—a five-year, $50 million cross-company effort dedicated to delivering technology-enabled solutions to global environmental challenges. More recently Dr. Joppa led Microsoft’s ambitious plans to become a carbon negative, water positive, zero waste company and to build a new planetary computing platform that will transform the way we monitor, model, and manage Earth’s natural systems.
Luc Rémont is Executive Vice President, International Operations, in charge of South America, Africa and Middle East, India and East Asia & Pacific and Member of the Executive Committee of Schneider Electric since April 2017.
Luc began his career in 1993 as an engineer at the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA). In 1996, he joined the French Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industry. He held several positions there, first in the Finances department where he supervised relationships with multilateral development banks (EBRD, World Bank) and government equity interests in transportation companies.
During his time at the French Ministry of Finance, from 2002 to 2007, he moved from a Technical Investment Advisor, to a Deputy Director position. He joined Merrill Lynch bank in 2007 and became Director of the Corporate and Investment Bank of America Merrill Lynch in France in 2009. In July 2014, he joined Schneider Electric as President of Schneider Electric France and Member of the Executive Committee.
Moreover, from March 2015 to May 2017, Luc was Chairman of Gimélec, which brings together 230 French companies providing power and automation solutions for the energy, building, industry and infrastructure markets.
Luc graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique (France) and holds an engineering degree from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Avancées (Ensta, France).
Brad is the CEO of Ripple. Prior to Ripple, Brad served as the CEO of file collaboration service Hightail. He was President of Consumer Applications at AOL from 2009 to 2012, and held various positions at Yahoo! from 2003 to 2009, including Senior Vice President. Brad formerly served as CEO of Dialpad Communications, held management positions at SBC Communications and @Home Network, and was an advisor to Silverlake Partners. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Animoto and OutMatch and has held board positions at Ancestry.com and Tonic Health.
Helle Thorning-Schmidt has an extensive background spanning politics, international relations and business. In 2017 she was named as one of the world’s greatest leaders by Fortune magazine.
As Prime Minister of Denmark from 2011-2015, Helle steered Denmark through a difficult financial crisis while reducing child poverty and increasing spending on education. She also served as leader of the country’s Social Democrat party for a decade, and was the first woman to hold both positions.
Following her term as PM, Helle was the Chief Executive of Save the Children, overseeing the work of 17,000 staff in 120 countries to reach around 50 million children every year in some of the most difficult and challenging contexts. She was deeply engaged in highlighting the humanitarian crises in Yemen and Syria, and the Rohingya refugee crisis.
Ms Thorning-Schmidt remains deeply engaged in these geopolitical issues as a member of several foreign policy think tanks, including the US Council on Foreign Relations, the European Council for Foreign Relations, and the Atlantic Council International Advisory Board. Helle is also a member of the Berggruen 21st Century Council.
In 2017, Helle was a co-chair of the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, and is on the board of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. Today Helle uses her deep political and international expertise to advise a range of businesses and not-for-profit groups.
Helle is non – Executive Director for a number of Boards - Vestas, one of the world’s leaders in sustainable energy; DJE Holdings, a global communications firm that partners with businesses and organisations to evolve, promote and protect their brands and reputations; Safelane, a global leader in clearing landmines and the explosive remnants of war; Carsøe, a leading manufacturer of retail, customised, and OEM solutions for key suppliers of food processing equipment across the world; and VISTA Equity Partners, an American investment firm focused on financing and forwarding software, data and technology-enabled startup businesses. In 2020 Helle was appointed Co-Chair of The Oversight Board created to help Facebook answer some of the most difficult questions around freedom of expression online; as well as Chairman for the Danish Football Union’s Governance Committee.
Also in 2020, Thorning-Schmidt was appointed by the World Health Organization's Regional Office for Europe to serve as a member of the Pan-European Commission on Health and Sustainable Development.
Helle devotes much of her time to defending and renewing progress, social justice, and democracy. As a strong champion of women and girls’ rights throughout her time in government and at Save the Children, she continues to remain passionate about women’s empowerment.
Helle was previously a member of the European Parliament. She has a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen and a Master’s Degree in European Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges.

This is reflected in his high educational background and keenness to join establishments that reflect his interests. Al Shorafa is currently the head of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) - an ADDED affiliate, Chairman of the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED), Chairman of Hub71 – a key initiative of the Abu Dhabi Government’s development accelerators program, Chairman of the Board of the Securities & Commodities Authority (SCA), Chairman of Free Zones Council - Abu Dhabi, Chairman of the Etihad Aviation Group, and Vice-Chair of the Abu Dhabi Global Market.
H.E. Al Shorafa was the CEO and managing director of UEMedical, a board member in the Strategic Partnership Council of the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, and a board member and chairman of the Healthcare Working Group of the UAE-UK Business Council. In addition to that, he was also the vice chairman of United Eastern Group (UEG) and Gulf Contractors Company (GCC). Al Shorafa spent nine years at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) before taking on his next challenge by launching UEMedical.
The organizations, where HE is involved, are contributing to the economic growth of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. In view of his many significant accomplishments, H.E. Al Shorafa was named by Arabian Business, in partnership with Bombardier, as one of the world’s most powerful Arabs in the years 2019 and 2021.
Professor Alexander Stubb is the Director of the School of Transnational Governance as of 1 May 2020. He has served as Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Foreign Minister, Trade and Europe Minister of Finland (2008-2016). He was a Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2008 and national parliament (2011-2017). He was the Chairman of the Finnish National Coalition Party (Kokoomus) from 2014 to 2016 and Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) from 2017 to 2020.
Stubb worked as an advisor at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Helsinki and Brussels and in President Romano Prodi's team at the European Commission (1995-2004). He was involved in the negotiation of the Treaties of Amsterdam, Nice and Lisbon.
Stubb’s background is in academia, civil service and politics. He holds a Ph.D. in international relations from the London School of Economics, a Master’s degree in EU administration from the College of Europe in Bruges, and a B.A. in political science from Furman University in South Carolina. He also studied French language, culture and civilisation at the Sorbonne in Paris.
Between 2000 and 2007, he was a visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges. Stubb has written numerous books and academic articles on European affairs and publishes columns for several newspapers, including the Financial Times, on a regular basis.
Stubb is also a self-professed sports-nut and avid amateur triathlete.
Graeme joined Unilever in 2002 and was previously Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Unilever UK and Ireland business. Prior to this he held a number of senior financial and commercial roles within Unilever, including Senior Vice President of Finance for Global Markets, Global Head of M&A, Head of Treasury, Pensions and Tax and Chief Financial Officer of Unilever Indonesia.
Graeme brings considerable internal and external experience to the role having spent the earlier part of his career in senior corporate finance roles in the telecommunications industry and at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Graeme is a Chartered Accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry from Strathclyde University. Graeme is married with two children with whom he enjoys skiing and golf. With a passion for blues music, he is also an enthusiastic, but poor, guitarist. In a personal capacity, Graeme is Vice-Chair of the Financial Stability Board Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (“TCFD”).
Graeme is also a non-executive director at Pearson Plc.
Sabine Bendiek is Chief People & Operating Officer, Labor Relations Director, and Member of the Executive Board.
The People & Operations board area combines excellence in people with the cross-board area mandate of SAP’s business operations.
In her role, Sabine Bendiek together with her team drives and further accelerates SAP’s transformation to the cloud by bringing together what creates the essential fabric of our company’s successful transformation: our people agenda, our systems and processes as well as our capabilities to enable insights, innovation and change both for SAP internally and for our customers.
Bendiek has more than 20 years of professional experience as an executive in the technology industry. Before joining SAP, she was Chairwoman of the Management Board at Microsoft Germany. Bendiek also held the position of Vice President and General Manager for EMC Germany and was responsible for Dell’s Small and Medium Business in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. At the beginning of her career, she worked for McKinsey, Booz Allen as well as Siemens Nixdorf Information Systems.
Bendiek holds a master's degree in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge and a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Cooperative Education in Mannheim.
Simon joined the Group as CEO, Corporate & Institutional Banking in April 2016. He assumed the additional responsibility for Commercial Banking in March 2018 and was appointed as the Chief Executive of Europe and Americas in 2020. Based in Singapore, he is a member of the Group Management Team and Chair of the Group Diversity & Inclusion Council
Simon has extensive experience across our markets and client segments. He was previously group managing director and chief executive of Global Commercial Banking at HSBC, having joined HSBC in 1989 and held a number of senior roles including deputy chairman and chief executive officer, Middle East and North Africa; chief executive officer, Korea; and head of Corporate and Investment Banking, Singapore. He has significant experience in the areas of corporate finance, corporate banking and transaction banking.
Simon is a member of the advisory board of the Lee Kong Chian School of Business. He is a trustee of the Standard Chartered Foundation.
Sunil is the CEO of Standard Chartered Africa and Middle East (AME), and a member of Standard Chartered’ s Global Management Team, the highest Executive Body within the Bank. Prior to this, Sunil was the Regional CEO of Standard Chartered South Asia and CEO India.
He has been with the Group for nearly 24 years and has approximately 34 years of banking experience in diverse markets across North Asia, South East Asia, South Asia, Middle East and Africa. Sunil has held senior roles across Wholesale, Retail, SME Banking.an Country Management within the Group. Sunil has served as the Head of Corporate Banking in UAE, Head of Originations and Client Coverage in Singapore, Global Head Small and Medium Enterprises and New Ventures in Singapore and Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank (Taiwan)
Sunil has led the acceleration of Standard Chartered’s digital transformation in the AME region, with the launch of digital banks across 9 key markets across Africa. The Bank also digitised its wealth management offering and has grown accounts by around 700,000. The successful establishment of these digital banks through Sunil’s leadership have served as a testament to the bank’s growing digital footprint in the region and presence as a leader in digital banking technologies.
In 2018 and 2019, Sunil was named the Banking CEO of the Year by EMEA Finance and CEO Middle East magazine respectively and was also featured amongst Forbes’ Middle East Top Indian Leaders for two consecutive years in 2019, 2020 & 2021. Sunil was also awarded Forbes’ Global Meets Local Top 50 Executives Regional Executives Heading International Companies in 2020 and featured in Gulf Business’s top Indians leaders in the GCC during 2020 & 2021.
In March 2021, Sunil joined MoneyTap, one of the leading Fintech companies in India, as a Global Advisor. Prior to joining Standard Chartered in 1998, Sunil held various positions in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance and Commercial Banking and Foreign Exchange at NatWest Markets, SocGen-Crosby, and American Express Bank in Mumbai, India.
Sunil holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Bombay University, India, and a post-graduate qualification as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has also completed general management courses at Harvard Business School, INSEAD, Oxford University, and London Business School.
Sarah Kate Ellis was named President and CEO of GLAAD in early 2014 after a successful career as a media executive.
In short order, Ellis refocused GLAAD’s crucial advocacy to accelerate acceptance of the LGBTQ community through a variety of compelling and effective initiatives, campaigns, and programs.
A powerful communicator, Ellis has used GLAAD’s position as the world’s leading media advocacy organization to demand fair and accurate coverage of the LGBTQ community. Ellis also commissioned GLAAD’s annual Accelerating Acceptance report, providing a window into national sentiment towards the LGBTQ community. In 2018, Ellis launched the GLAAD Media Institute (GMI), which focuses on research into LGBTQ representation and acceptance, consulting on LGBTQ storylines in media and Hollywood, and training activists on LGBTQ media advocacy and storytelling that creates change. Over the past few years alone, the GLAAD Media Institute has trained over 10,000 people and consulted on hundreds of media projects. Ellis is also the Executive Producer of the GLAAD Media Awards, which is the most visible LGBTQ awards show in the world. The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and ultimately raise the bar for LGBTQ inclusion across all forms of media.
Under her leadership, Ellis has evolved GLAAD from a media watchdog organization to one of the most powerful cultural change agents across industries. At a time when LGBTQ issues were being largely left out of the mainstream conversation, Ellis, GLAAD, One Iowa, and The Advocate co-hosted the first Presidential Candidate Forum on LGBTQ issues during the 2020 election cycle in September 2019. This was the first time an LGBTQ-focused Presidential forum had taken place since 2007. In December 2019, Ellis & GLAAD also worked through the media and behind-the-scenes with The Hallmark Channel to reinstate TV ads which were pulled from air for featuring a same-sex couple. In response to the unique and disproportionate challenges facing LGBTQ people during the pandemic, Ellis executive produced “Together in Pride: You are Not Alone,” a digital event which highlighted the LGBTQ response to COVID-19 and raised critical funds for local LGBTQ centers providing life-saving services.
Ellis has also taken her mission of LGBTQ acceptance to a global level. In June 2019, Ellis travelled to Cannes-Lions, where she spoke about increasing LGBTQ inclusion in marketing and advertising and the workplace on panels with the world’s largest companies. For the past several years, Ellis has also brought LGBTQ issues to the forefront at the World Economic Forum. In 2020, Ellis organized a standing-room-only event during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos with P&G on the power of LGBTQ representation in advertising, and presented groundbreaking new research on how exposure to LGBTQ images in advertising and media leads to greater LGBTQ acceptance. As part of her mission to expand GLAAD’s work in advertising, Ellis has worked with global brands including Dow, P&G, Skittles, Ketel One, Wells Fargo, Hilton, and more on LGBTQ-inclusive marketing, public relations, and ad campaigns.

They were the first same-sex couple to have their marriage ceremony performed in the Episcopal Church of New York State.

Igor is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of WorldQuant, which he established in 2007 following 12 years working as a statistical arbitrage portfolio manager at Millennium Management. He is the author of multiple articles and books, including The UnRules. Bertrand Perez is the CEO of the Web3 Foundation where he is responsible for controlling and directing its day-to-day operations. He has 30 years of engineering and technical management experience in payments and telecoms. Bertrand has led geographically dispersed engineering and operations teams of all sizes up to 300-plus staff within large multi-national organizations as well as smaller teams within early-stage start-ups. In his last tenure, he was COO at the Diem Association where he initiated the Diem stablecoin project. J. Erik Fyrwald joined Syngenta Group in June 2016 as Chief Executive Officer. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Univar, a leading distributor of chemistry and related services, from May 2012 until May 2016. In 2008, following a 27-year career at DuPont, he joined the Nalco Company, a leading water treatment products and services company, serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until December 2011, when Nalco merged with Ecolab Inc. Following the merger, Erik Fyrwald served as President of Ecolab, a global provider of water, hygiene and energy technologies. From 2003 to 2008, Erik Fyrwald served as Group Vice President of the agriculture and nutrition division at the DuPont Company. From 2000 until 2003, he was Vice President and General Manager of DuPont’s nutrition and health business.
Erik Fyrwald serves on the boards of directors of Syngenta Group, Bunge, Eli Lilly, the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce and the UN World Food Program Farm to Market Alliance. He is also Chairman of the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture and CropLife International.

Andrea Illy is the Chairman of illycaffè, a Benefit Company founded in 1933 with the mission of offering the greatest coffee to the world. For 22 years, until 2016, he served as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. He is co-founder of the Ernesto Illy Foundation and Chairman of the Ernesto Illy Foundation USA.
Since 1990, chiefly under Mr. Illy’s leadership, illycaffè has recorded double-digit growth, and has become the most global coffee brand and quality leader. The company is famous for its innovation in espresso technology, and pioneered significant advances in its industry, such as directly sourcing coffee from growers and paying a premium on top of market prices, establishing the University of Coffee to propagate coffee knowledge, and developing the first-ever third-party sustainability certification for a value chain. illycaffè has been recognized as the most sustainable company in the coffee sector (ICRT, 2014), as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies (Ethisphere Institute, 2013-2021). Recognized as a coffee authority, Mr. Illy’s writings are published on a regular basis, and he serves as a speaker at major conferences throughout the world. In 1995, he published Espresso Coffee: The Chemistry of Quality (Academic Press), now in its second edition, and his memoir, A Coffee Dream, was published in 2015 (Codice Edizioni). In 2018 was published Italia Felix (Piemme), a conversation with the journalist Francesco Antonioli. He was the main contributor to Altagamma: Strategie per l’Italia d’Eccellenza, published in 2018 (Skyra). From 2019 he began the development of a Virtuous Agriculture model, beneficial for the environment and health.
He is a passionate supporter of the stakeholder company business model, and firmly advocates for corporate responsibility as means to improve society. A “humanist chemist,” as he likes to define himself, Mr. Illy also promotes culture and art, a sphere in which illycaffè has always been active. Under his leadership, the Altagamma Foundation was officially recognized as an ambassador of the Italian lifestyle in the world.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Sanda Ojiambo of Kenya as Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Global Compact.
For the past two years, Ms. Ojiambo served as the Executive Director of the UN Global Compact, leading the development and roll out of an ambitious new strategy to accelerate and scale the global collective impact of business to uphold the Ten Principles of the Global Compact, and deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals.
Ms. Ojiambo brings over 20 years of experience to this position spanning the development, UN and private sectors. She joined the UN from Safaricom Plc in Kenya where she served as the Head of Sustainable Business and Social Impact, leading the implementation of several public-private partnership initiatives between Safaricom and UN organizations at both local and global levels. Prior to this, Ms Ojiambo worked with IPPF Africa, UNDP Somalia and CARE Somalia leading public policy and capacity development work across multiple sectors. Throughout her career, she has cultivated and managed partnerships with key business entities, civil society organizations and philanthropies. In her role as Assistant Secretary-General, Ms. Ojiambo will be responsible for leading the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, building the strategic partnerships needed to drive impact and advocacy at local and global levels. She will advise the Secretary-General and the Deputy Secretary-General on the contributions of the private sector to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, on the engagement of the United Nations with business and on key organizational partnerships with the private sector. She will also manage and coordinate the engagement of the UN Global Compact in United Nations inter-agency affairs, engaging with relevant multilateral and international organizations, alongside developing new, innovative partnerships with the private sector.
Launched in July 2000, the United Nations Global Compact is the Secretary-General’s strategic policy and advocacy initiative calling for the alignment of business operations and strategies with ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and motivates companies to integrate the SDGs into their core business strategy and operations.
With over 16,000 corporate participants and other stakeholders from over 160 countries engaged through 69 country networks, it is the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative in the world. Endorsed by chief executives, the Global Compact is a practical framework for the development, implementation, and disclosure of sustainability policies and practices, committing businesses to sustainability and shared responsibility for achieving a better world.
Dr. Patrick Allman-Ward is an accomplished international energy executive with over 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, in many senior positions in locations all over the world, including the Middle East where he has spent the last 18 years. Dr. Allman-Ward started his career at Shell in 1982, and subsequently held senior management roles as Vice-President Exploration for Asia-Pacific, CEO and Director of the South Rub Al Khali Company, Vice-President of New Business Development in Saudi Arabia and New Ventures Execution Manager for Europe. Dr. Allman-Ward joined Dana Gas in August 2012 and was selected by the Dana Gas Board of Directors to take over as CEO of the Dana Gas Group effective 1st September 2013.
Dr. Allman-Ward studied geology at Durham University followed by an MSc from Leicester University in Mineral Exploration and Mining Geology and earned his PhD from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, University of London in 1981.
Dickon is based in McKinsey’s San Francisco office where he co-founded and leads McKinsey’s global work in clean technologies and serves as the global leader of the firm’s Sustainability Practice. Dickon helps companies address the resource-productivity challenges the world will face in terms of energy sources, transportation, food, land, water, and basic materials. He serves investors (venture capital, private equity, pension funds, sovereign-wealth funds), large energy and industrial incumbents (oil and gas companies, industrial original-equipment manufacturers, utilities, automotive original-equipment manufacturers), technology start-ups, and policy makers/influencers (government agencies, nongovernment organizations, regulators).
Dickon also helps clients who manufacture or use highly engineered products for companies in aerospace and defense, power generation, and oil and gas industries. Functionally, he focuses on increasing engineering productivity and transforming their product development systems, deploying techniques such as design to value, increased modularity, and increased automation. His experience extends to high tech as well; he previously was a leader in McKinsey’s Global Semiconductor Practice where he served many of the world’s leading semiconductor companies on strategy, capital productivity, and operational turnarounds.
He received a masters in science in physics at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a Fulbright scholar, as well as a PhD in physics at Cambridge University. Dickon is a prolific author and frequent speaker at industry forums, including, most recently, at the Clean Tech Investor Summit.
Medha is co-founder and chief technology officer of Casper Labs, where she oversees product development. Medha has more than 30 years of tech experience, including leadership roles at Adobe, Avalara and mp3.com. Juan Benet is the inventor of the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), a new protocol to make the web faster, safer, and more open, and Filecoin, a cryptocurrency incentivized storage network. Daniela Barbosa serves as General Manager Blockchain, Healthcare and Identity at the Linux Foundation and as Executive Director of Hyperledger Foundation with overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, programs, expansion and execution of Hyperledger’s mission. Daniela has more than 20 years of enterprise technology experience, including serving for four years as Hyperledger Foundation’s Vice President of Worldwide Alliances with responsibility for the member community as well as broader industry and business community outreach and overall network growth. She started her career at Dow Jones where she worked with the top global brands across various sectors, including finance, consumer and energy, to architect and deliver enterprise systems, ontologies and semantic web solutions. In the early 2000s, Daniela became involved in the early web 2.0 community helping to advance the concept of digital identity and data portability as the pathway for people to reuse their data across interoperable applications.

Morten Bech joined the BIS in mid-2011. Before taking up his current assignment in 2020, he was the head of the secretariat supporting the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures with responsibility for coordinating and contributing to the activities of the Committee and its various working groups. He has also served as Secretary to the Markets Committee. He previously worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Danish central bank. In 2009, he was a visitor at the Monetary Affairs Division of the Federal Reserve Board in Washington DC. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has written on various issues relating to monetary policy implementation, money markets, the network topology of financial markets, large-value payment systems and systemic risk.
Karen Ottoni is the Director of Ecosystem for Hyperledger Foundation. She plays an active role in building the diverse ecosystem of innovative companies developing and implementing enterprise blockchain in various industries. Her areas of emphasis include digital assets, interoperability, and blockchain's impact on payment models as well as diversity and inclusion and the social impact of emerging technologies. Prior to Hyperledger, she worked as a strategic business manager in the blockchain practice at Tata Consultancy. She has also worked in numerous overseas roles with USAID, Chemonics International, and various social enterprises.
Alan leads the Filecoin Green team, which aims at building decentralized tools to pull verifiable environmental information through the economy in real time. He has worked to accelerate the transition to renewable energy for more than a decade, approaching this work as an academic and industry researcher, and startup co-founder. During his doctoral research at MIT focused on energy storage systems, he worked on projects for ARPA-E and DARPA.
Megan Klimen is the co-founding officer of Filecoin Foundation and Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web. Previously, she was co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of 3Scan, a biotech startup that developed 3D robotic serial sectioning microscopes, with the mission of enabling big data analysis of human tissue for applications including clinical diagnostics, drug discovery, 3D organ printing, and brain mapping. Battling the climate crisis requires a large-scale, coordinated effort by parties around the world. And, in the era of greenwashing and misinformation, transparency and verification are among the most important weapons. While the energy-intensive mining practices of some cryptocurrencies may make it seem counterintuitive, blockchain has an increasingly important role to play in driving down carbon footprints and ensuring climate promises are met and kept. This panel will cover pathways to sustainability for blockchain technologies and growing adoption of tokens, credentials, smart contracts and more in the climate fight.

The Filecoin Foundation Presents: Enabling Verifiable Environmental Sustainability through Decentralization
Decentralization technologies allow us to coordinate economic activity in genuinely novel ways, exploring forms of organization that lie anywhere on a spectrum from today’s highly centralized corporations to fully emergent and transparent structures such as blockchains. In this talk, I’m going to show that the technologies allowing us to build decentralized economic entities also enable environmental accounting that is more comprehensive, responsive, and robust than we can achieve using traditional tools. As an example, the work we are doing at Filecoin Green allows storage providers to connect their operations to renewable energy and make public claims backed by robust on-chain proofs. In turn, this allows a client storing data on Filecoin to see not only where their data is being stored but specifically which renewable energy installation is producing the energy required to store it. This enables both human and automated clients visibility into the environmental impacts of their actions and the ability to publicly verify them. These and similar solutions will upgrade today’s environmental reporting practices in which reports are compiled annually and metrics are therefore always old by the time they are used. By delegating environmental accounting to decentralized systems able to reduce and prove their environmental impacts in real-time, decentralized infrastructure will pull sustainability-related information through value chains in minutes, not in months.
