COS revealed its Spring Summer 24 collections on the runway last week in Rome, Italy. Set against a backdrop of a frescoed 15th century hospital, the brand presented 33 looks blending craftmanship with modernist principles. The show featured laid-back styles reinvented in mesh fabrics, silk tailoring and experimental material manipulation. Tones of red in bold, colour-drenched silhouettes created a striking contrast against a backdrop of neutrals - steel blue, black, white and sand. We scored second out of 52 brands assessed in remake.world's 2024 Fashion Accountability Report, with Everlane receiving the top score. Remake assesses some of the world's largest fashion companies in six different areas including traceability, raw materials, wages and wellbeing, and commercial practices. No brand scored over 40 out of 150, highlighting how much more we need to do as an industry. The only way we can make meaningful progress is to work together to address the issues that affect us all. We remain committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, improving our social impact and exploring our journey towards a more sustainable and circular fashion industry. We have signed a joint letter with other business leaders and investors to urge Environment and Climate ministers and EU decision makers to endorse a greenhouse gas emissions reduction target of at least 90% by 2040. A robust climate target will bring extensive benefits: • It will boost EU competitiveness, increase resilience and position the EU as a leader in sustainable industries. • It will significantly improve energy security for citizens and businesses. • It will position the EU as a leader in climate action by phasing out fossil fuels, tripling global renewable deployment and doubling energy efficiency rates. This goal is in line with our ambitions at H&M Group. We have already set Science-Based climate targets to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by at least 90% and to reach net-zero by 2040.
