Om os

At 3XN, we believe that buildings are more than the sum of their parts and constantly seek to achieve a synthesis of design, function and context. Our buildings are uniquely matched to each project but always seek to combine beauty and meaning by putting people at the center of design. Designing buildings that are light and connected, ensures clarity and well-being for their users. Our work is founded in ongoing research into how buildings reflect and inform human behavior and the environment – this allows us to advance innovative solutions to contemporary challenges. We constantly seek to enhance a sense of community, identity and relationship to others through beautiful and functional spaces. Research is essential to our design and allow us to push the boundaries of aesthetics and functionality. Each project stands on the shoulders of previous work allowing us to constantly evolve and develop our know-how. As we learn from project to project, we apply this learning in new ways to add lasting value to our architecture and our practice. Today our staff is a mix of experienced project architects and talented young design architects from over 20 nationalities. We work on a global scale but take pride in our history and Scandinavian roots bounded by humanistic values. This allow us to re-invent tradition with a clear understanding of some of the most exciting and pressing challenges of the 21st century.

TRANSFORMING TO #ZERO: In recent years, the #UK has witnessed a notable surge in the demand for laboratory facilities across various science sectors. Life science organisations are adopting ambitious net-zero goals, yet existing laboratory buildings do not always support these. How can we redesign life science buildings to be tailored, yet remain future-proof? The paper - 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙕𝙚𝙧𝙤 - tackles exactly this.   After two years of analysis, research, and debate with more than 50 lab owners, operators, and developers, GXN and London-based Project Management company 3PM are publishing a paper with a range of practical, achievable guidance on decarbonising laboratories. The #paper focuses on sustainable behaviours as a lever for change in life sciences buildings’ transition towards a low-carbon future.   𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 is one of three focus areas. We cannot wait to share our findings with you. In the meantime, read an interview with research leaders James Buckley-Walker (Partner, 3PM), Kåre Stokholm Poulsgaard (Partner and Head of Innovation, GXN) and Liam Brandwood (Architect and Circular Design Specialist, GXN) on the paper's key findings and future. 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐔𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐂𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄. 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧! We are very excited to share that Forskaren has officially opened its doors to users, visitors and industry professionals. Today, the two-day opening celebration for #Hagastaden's crown jewel culminated in a joint inauguration by the Swedish and Danish royal families. Life science and the study of living organisms and life processes play a key role in addressing health and societal challenges. With the new Hagastaden neighbourhood in the northern part of Stockholm, the ambition is to create one of the world’s leading ecosystems within the sciences. #Forskaren is the heart of the area, bringing together #industry, #research, #academia and the #public under one roof.   “Innovation often happens when people and their disciplines meet,” says Jan Ammundsen, Head of Design and Senior Partner at 3XN. “With Forskaren, we wanted to create a vibrant and collaborative life science environment. The building is designed for people to meet and see each other and for established and start-up companies to contribute to each other’s development.”   We're very proud to have developed Forskaren with our visionary partners at Vectura Fastigheter.   Read the full story on our website : https://lnkd.in/d9pJkmM3 Photos: AXL media AB I Marcus Stork   #LifeScience #Innovation #Sustainability #Forskaren #inauguration #RoyalVisit #Stockholm #Wellbeing

✰✰✰✰✰ 𝟓 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐊𝐄: GXN’s transformation of Tscherning HQ consisting of 90% upcycled and recycled building materials named ‘𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤’ in Berlingske’s architecture review   "One of Tscherning's main competences is demolition, and when everyone in the construction industry has been talking about upcycling, transformation, circular economy to help reduce the carbon footprint of construction for years, it's fantastic that one of the industry's stakeholders is voluntarily putting action behind their idealistic words," states Holger Dahl in Berlingske and calls the project "𝙖 𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙚".   💡Tscherninghuset is not only a physical manifestation of how demolition waste can breathe life to a new project - it also recalibrates our perception of #material #aesthetics in future architecture. My Lunsjö, Behavioural Design Specialist and Associate at GXN elaborates: “𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦, 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴.
