  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen
    • have completed Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia
    • not have completed subjects undertaken as part of a tertiary course
    • have applied for a University of Melbourne undergraduate degree via VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) for commencement in the year following completion of Year 12 or International Baccalaureate
    • meet the Access Melbourne entry requirements for the University of Melbourne course nominated in your VTAC application

    Selection criteria

    This scholarship was offered to eligible candidates who have the highest overall level of disadvantage based on the information provided in their VTAC SEAS application and their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

    Conditions

    This scholarship is subject to the Coursework Scholarships Terms & Conditions and can be deferred to the following academic year.

    In addition, you must agree to give permission for the University to provide your name and course details to the donor of your scholarship and to provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

What are the benefits?

This scholarship provides an allowance of either:

  • $7,500 per year for three years for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and from regional or remote areas in Australia, or
  • $5,000 per year for three years for Indigenous students* and students who are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances

The duration will be extended by one year if you enrol in a Bachelor (Extended) course and/or a concurrent diploma at the same time as your Bachelor course at the University of Melbourne.

* Indigenous students are offered  the Melbourne Access Scholarship together with the Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships with a combined value of $8,000 to $12,000 per year.
