Larry Sanger is Director of Distributed Content Programs at ManyOne Networks in Scotts Valley, California. He is also Chair, Board of Stewards, Digital Universe Foundation, and a key organizer of Digital Universe projects. He was co-founder of Wikipedia. After being introduced to the concept of a wiki, he proposed applying it to an encyclopedia, which directly led to the setup of the website. He also managed the website in its first year and was responsible for many of the policies that made the website the success it is today. Dr. Sanger received his B.A. in philosophy from Reed College in 1991 and Ph.D. in philosophy from Ohio State University in 2000. His doctoral thesis concerned Epistemic Circularity: An Essay on the Problem of Meta-Justification. He is also a player and teacher of Irish traditional music on the fiddle.
