ONE OF THE FOUNDERS of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia told the FBI that the outfit was serving up kiddie porn.
Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger, who left the project in 2002 due to what he described as "disagreements" whinged to the feds about drawings of kids and cartoons accompanying some paedophilia-related entries. In his view such graphics were depictions of child abuse.
The Associated Press reports that Sanger thought he was doing his civic duty by lodging the allegations. Apparently he said that he didn't really want to do it, but he "felt he should".
Wikipedia has strongly rejected the accusations. Spokesman Jay Walsh said the community abhors pornography and paedophilia and it doesn't want to provide opportunities for such things to happen.
"We don't have material we would deem to be illegal. If we did, we would remove it," he said.
Just like the group deletes entries about people and topics it doesn't like, we guess. µ

Sanger's competing project http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizendium isn't really making much progress (site is down currently), I guess he has several reasons to attack Wikipedia...
