    Northampton v MK Dons preview

Team news for Tuesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Southern Area first-round clash between Northampton and MK Dons at Sixfields.

Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd is again expected to rotate his squad for the visit of local rivals MK Dons in the JPT. The first-round tie on Tuesday night will be a third game in six days - and third different competition - for the Cobblers. Lee Nicholls returned in goal for the league fixture at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday after being ineligible against Wolves in the Capital One Cup on Thursday evening. However, teenager Dean Snedker may get another run out against the Dons. On-loan right-back Danny East kept his place at Home Park after making his debut against Wolves, so the only other change in Devon saw Adebayo Akinfenwa restored to the attack in place of Clive Platt. Ishmel Demontagnac was lively as a second-half substitute against Plymouth at the weekend and the midfielder will be in the frame to make his first start for the club. Boothroyd also has Anthony Charles, Henoc Mukendi, Lewis Wilson and Louis Moult to call on. MK Dons will have Alan Smith available again. Smith could go straight back into the starting XI at Sixfields, with the former England international in need of a run out after missing the last three matches through suspension. The same can be said of defender Anthony Kay, who warmed the bench for the full 90 minutes against Carlisle on Saturday on his return from a three-game ban. Captain Dean Lewington, however, will serve the final match of his suspension. Fellow defender Mathias Kouo-Doumbe resumed training last week after a month on the sidelines with a knee injury but it remains to be seen whether manager Karl Robinson will include the Frenchman in the travelling party. New signing Jimmy Bullard made his Dons debut as a second-half substitute at the weekend, and he could be another player who is in from the start on Tuesday night. Fellow midfielder James O'Shea and striker Charlie MacDonald are also options for Robinson.
