With a new epilogue about Bill Gates’s global agenda and how we can resist the billionaires’ war on life

“This is what globalization looks like: Opportunism. Exploitation. Further centralization of power. Further disempowerment of ordinary people. . . . Vandana Shiva is an expert whose analysis has helped us understand this situation much more deeply.”―Russell Brand

Widespread poverty, social unrest, and economic polarization have become our lived reality as the top 1% of the world’s seven-billion-plus population pushes the planet―and all its people―to the social and ecological brink.

In Oneness vs. the 1%, Vandana Shiva takes on the billionaire dictators of Gates, Buffet, and Mark Zuckerberg, as well as other modern empires like Big Tech, Big Pharma, and Big Ag, whose blindness to the rights of people, and to the destructive impact of their construct of linear progress, have wrought havoc across the world. Their single-minded pursuit of profit has undemocratically enforced uniformity and monocultures, division and separation, monopolies and external control―over finance, food, energy, information, healthcare, and even relationships.

Basing her analysis on explosive facts, Shiva exposes the 1%’s model of philanthrocapitalism, which is about deploying unaccountable money to bypass democratic structures, derail diversity, and impose totalitarian ideas based on One Science, One Agriculture, and One History. Instead, Shiva calls for the resurgence of:

  • Real knowledge

  • Real intelligence

  • Real wealth

  • Real work

  • Real well-being

With these core goals, people can reclaim their right to: Live Free. Think Free. Breathe Free. Eat Free.

5 Stars
An excellent call to become self-organized, self-reliant, and create local economies
In this must read book for anyone that cares about themselves and the Earth, Vandana and Kartikey Shiva explain clearly with data and references, how the richest people in the world negatively affect the nature, biodiversity, agriculture, and ultimately our health and wellbeing in order to keep increasing their profits. The authors did an excelleng job explaining how the solutions like GMO, industrial chemical agriculture, geo-engineering, AI and computer models based technocracy, etc., proposed by the super-rich to solve the world's problems are horribly affecting the earth and making all of us weak and sick. For example, the authors argue that the vector mediated horizontal gene transfer (genetic engineering) causes new pandemic strains of bacterial pathogens, and call all the people of this world to throw away the pseudo-science of the super rich.

The back drop of corporate history given by Dr Shiva tells us where all of this is going. The powerful under told story of India’s farmers and citizens as a microcosm of what the rest of us can expect from megalithic corporation systematically destroying financial sovereignty and the environment for short term, poorly advised gain. Her vision of true independence sounds like heaven on earth.
Well written and researched with an alarming forecast for those sharp enough to see this playing out.
I highly recommend this read for anyone wanting to understand the world, what’s at stake and how the big games are played.

Very enlightening and informative book. I may be biased because I believe in Vandana Shiva’s hands on experience with Seeds of Freedom. A must read for anyone who lives on this planet, who eats food and is interested in the future of food security.

This is a hard read by a wise scientist who points out how humanity has allowed our land and our food production to be run by greed and profit. We all are in danger of extinction by human hand, not by Nature. Shiva gives facts and names names, and continues her lifelong commitment to those who care and fight for sustainable life on earth. Everyone must read this book and fight for our lives. Shiva's goal is Life on earth; the abusers' goal is life on Mars for their clan. This is not science fiction. History will tell how we survived, or Earth will be another Atlantis Tale.

Vandana Shiva, once again speaks out against exploitation, as she does so well. This time, her main focus is on the billionaires, the philanthropists, the capitalists, the 1%.

She breaks it down clearly and gets right to the point: the 1% and their extractive form of gain is destroying the planet, destroying the lives of millions, and blurring the lines between what is morally just and what is outrageously wrong.

Get informed, become educated, and choose a side; it’s Oneness vs. The 1%.

Everyone on Planet Earth needs to read this book!!! We’ll done Vandana for standing your ground and exposing the evil that is being forced on everyone. The world needs more of your thinking and compassion for not only the Earth, of which we are all dependent and connected, but of all life that inhabits her. You are a guiding light. Thank you.

This book will open your eyes to how the food we're eating is being hacked (not for good) by pharmaceuticals & tech moguls like Bill Gates(you'll get sick of this douchebag once you finish reading the book). I recommend buying the Audiobook version if you're a commuter like me. Finally, I would like to thank Vandana Shiva & Kartikey Shiva for fighting alongside the farmers' to store & reproduce God-given seeds.

5.0 out of 5 stars No to ‘Modern Day Christopher Columbus’ and the Philanthropy of the One Percent!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 20, 2022
Came across this book by Vandana and Kartikey Shiva: Oneness vs The 1% almost a year ago, following my Facebook post on 29th January 2021 discussing philanthropy book by author Paul Vallely the author “Philanthropy: From Aristotle to Zuckerberg” including the so-called global elite philanthropists like Bill Gates’s approach to philanthropy as being akin to a form of “philanthro-imperialism". In essence, the actions of ‘New Columbus who began 5 centuries ago with the age of Columbus who set out for India; but reached the Americas. His journey to plunder became the ‘Discovery of America’. With the creation of the East India Company in 1600, specifically created to plunder India, the foundation of contemporary corporate rule and corporate globalisation was laid’.

The book clearly explains that the "Industrial agriculture is inefficient, unproductive, creates dependency on corporations for eternal inputs, and dependency on global supply chains which impose uniformity on farms." The authors focus on Bill Gates and how he is using his money to bypass democratic structures of society. His (Gates) foundation is involved in ignoring or derailing alternatives to his vision, a totalitarian world view which shapes Gates understanding of health, education, agriculture, economic, and financial strategy. Gates ignores contributions of women, indigenous and peasant farmers who have knowledge of the land.

The question arises, can a megalomaniac eugenist billllionaire be trusted and would you put him charge of the planet? Would you put a fox in charge of the hen house? What will be the unforeseen effects of bioengineering on wildlife, on crops and world climate? The current ongoing global pandemic will be the least of our worries. A step-by-step progression to total control of planet earth and its populations is well underway and enforced mass vaccination by coercion and blackmail is another step towards total control of the 99% by the 1%! “Humans as earth citizens with duties and rights have been replaced by corporations with no accountability either to earth or society, only unlimited license to exploit both”.

Overall, a great book that gives you a complete understanding how big global corporations and the 1% elites/billionaires are exploiting our planet earth and nature through the destruction of ancient cultures that made societies live in harmony for hundreds and thousands of years.

Once again Vandana Shiva tells about important facts and problems which affect everyone. Moreover the book and its bibliography and citations give you the possibility of building your own opinion and free your mind from the dominant way of thinking about: wellness, freedom, inequality, progress, economic and social growth, justice, distribution of opportunity, the staying together with compassion and care for each other as a the third way from mankind extintion or escaping to another planet
