Geomagnetism, Aeronomy and Space Weather: A Journey from the Earth's Core to the Sun (Special Publications of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics Book 4) 1st Edition, Kindle Edition
by Mioara Mandea (Editor), Monika Korte (Editor), Andrew Yau (Editor), Eduard Petrovsky (Editor) & 1 more Format: Kindle Edition
On the centenary of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, this book reviews the state-of-the-art research in geomagnetism, aeronomy and space weather. Written by eminent researchers from these fields, it summarises the advances in research over the past 100 years, and looks ahead to current and emerging studies on Earth's magnetic field. It provides a comprehensive overview of the generation of Earth's magnetic field, its history and its response to external forces. Starting at the centre of the Earth, the reader is taken on a journey from the interior core and mantle, through the upper atmosphere and magnetosphere, before reaching the Sun's atmosphere and corona. The applications of this research are also discussed, particularly the societal impact of solar activity on critical infrastructures in our increasingly technologically dependant society. This book provides a valuable resource and reference to academic researchers and students in geomagnetism and aeronomy.

Editorial Reviews
Review
‘This impressive book, published in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), was commissioned by the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, one of eight constituent bodies within IUGG. The goal of the project was to provide a thorough review of current knowledge and research in the fields, considering their contribution to our understanding of the earth and interplanetary space and the effects magnetic field variations have on our technological society. It will undoubtedly be an essential reference for researchers and advanced students in these fields for many years.’ William Green, The Leading Edge
About the Author
Andrew W. Yau is a Principal Investigator for the Enhanced Polar Outflow Probe (e-POP) satellite mission, and Professor in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Calgary, Canada. He is a member of the IAGA Executive Committee, and Editor for Geophysical Research Letters. He has worked on several international space science satellite missions.
Mioara Mandea is a Professor and Programme Manager for Solid Earth at the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales, France. How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
