Nobunaga's Ambition first debuted in 1983 as one of Koei's first video games, and since then the continuing series has gained a reputation as one of the deepest and most intense console strategy titles. Koei senior VP Amos Ip explains:
"The Nobunaga's Ambition series defined the simulation genre when it first debuted in 1983. The engrossing gameplay in many ways set the standard by which all other console simulation games would be measured. The franchise continues to be enjoyed around the world and has garnered numerous awards. Now, with Nobunaga's Ambition: Rise to Power the engrossing strategy and simulation elements are presented in a rich 3D environment. Koei is excited to reintroduce the Nobunaga's Ambition series to veteran players and to a new generation of fans."
Rise to Power has a mix of Koei's best behind it, including producer Kou Shibusawa, the brain behind the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series. Among the game's features are seven scenarios with over 300 different starting areas, all set in 16th century feudal Japan. Players will have the chance to play both as and against the legendary Nobunaga.
Rise to Power has already been released in Japan under the title Nobunaga's Ambition: Tenkasousei. Koei has slated the game for release in North America on February 5, 2008. Watch for battlefield coverage as we get a look at the title.
