Orry PestellLeading Cadet Orry Pestell - Biggleswade Unit, Bedfordshire Sea Cadets
Leading Cadet Pestell is a committed Sea Cadet of the Biggleswade Unit, TS Duchess. Since joining he has grown in confidence and ability and has shown great commitment and determination to improve himself as well as encouraging the other cadets in the Unit. He is always the first to volunteer for any training courses, competitions and community support functions – and he delivers.

Leading Cadet Pestell is a mature cadet, a good role model who works hard and this was emulated by passing his Leading Cadet board at 15 years old. He is a very smart, well-mannered leading cadet who would give 110% to this role and will wear the badge with enormous pride.

Leading Cadet Pestell always supports the Unit within the community, in particularly Remembrance Day Parade and supporting the local Royal British Legion with bugle playing at Armed Forces Day and VE Day.  Leading Cadet Pestell encourages other cadets to support the Unit in the community.  This year he had the honour of performing at the Town’s celebration for the Queens Platinum Jubilee event leading the bugling team.

He has been involved in every aspect of cadet life, notably his support and mentoring of junior cadets during the Royal Navy Section expedition to cycle the Coast-to-Coast route in May this year contributed substantially to bringing his team successfully through physical hardship, and extremely inclement weather.

Lily MillerCadet Regimental Sergeant Major Lily Miller - Bedford Detachment, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force
Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major Miller is an outstanding cadet whose selfless commitment to the Army Cadets is faultless at both detachment, and company level. She attended every virtual parade night during the Covid lockdowns and competed at online sports competitions, winning medals, and representing the county at National level. Cdt RSM Miller does this with such a positive attitude and is regularly complemented on her abilities by cadets and other instructors. Her turnout is impeccable, along with her bearing, particularly when instructing other cadets. During meetings with Senior Officers, Cdt RSM Miller regularly holds conversations confidently.  Cdt RSM Miller has built a positive reputation with her attendance at Army STEM Camp and Cyber First Adventurers.

Cdt RSM Miller regularly supports multiple events spanning North Bedfordshire representing her detachment and the company. Cdt RSM Miller was the first recipient of an Officer Commanding coin for outstanding behaviours within the community.

Outside of cadets Cdt RSM Miller, mentors people in her rifle club and assists behind the counter during activities. Since COVID Cdt RSM Miller has been helping her neighbours with gardening and shopping for groceries.

Tegan DodimeadCadet Warrant Officer Tegan Dodimead - 207 (Cranfield) Squadron, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Air Training Corps
Since joining 207 Sqn in 2016, Cadet Warrant Officer Dodimead has been a standout cadet. She has thrown herself at every opportunity presented to her. Within only a few years of her joining the Squadron, she attended the National Concert Band making her the youngest cadet in the Wing to achieve the Gold Musicians badge. She didn’t let this get in the way of music training at the lower levels either, she has consistently attended Wing and Region Band over the same period. She strives for personal excellence, having had success in shooting, radio & cyber, first aid, road marching and leadership. She also embodies the “foster the spirit of adventure” aim of the Corps having attained her Silver D of E and working towards her Gold which she will complete in a few months. In terms of achievements, she is one of the most decorated cadets. Crucially she uses this to better the cadets in the community.

Within the community and outside the Squadron, CWO Dodimead actively teaches Cadets in the Wing Training Squadron, holds a private pilot license, and attends numerous community engagement events such as Squadron bag packs, parades, and numerous memorial services.

Within the community, Cadet Lawrence takes part in litter picking in her village and bake sales for charity.

Lee ClarkeFire Cadet Lee Clarke - Sandy Fire Cadets, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service
Cadet Clarke always attends Cadets with a positive attitude. He has had a keen interest in the Fire Service since 2014, researching and learning about the Service prior to applying for Cadets. Over the last 2 years since he has been part of the unit, he has improved his confidence and knowledge around everything to do with the Fire service. During Breathing Apparatus sessions in early 2022, Cadet Clarke demonstrated exemplary learning, retaining details about the theoretical aspects of the work and acting as a role model and supporting his peers through the practical drill activities. He is always keen to participate and encourage his team. Cadet Clarke likes to take on a challenge and acts as a role model for the other Cadets. During the Cadet fitness test, Cadet Clarke completed this individually whilst the other Cadets worked in pairs, showing his drive and commitment for the challenge. Cadet Clarke was nominated for Sandy Cadet of the Year at the end of the 2021-22 academic year and was widely supported for this accolade by all instructors.

Within the community, Cadet Clarke is keen to represent the unit and the Fire Station as a community hub. He has attended a number of community activities such as Sandy Lights, Queen’s Jubilee event at Sandy Fire Station and charity Car Wash events. He will volunteer for these events and positively represent Cadets and the wider Service as a whole. He is always keen to share his knowledge, supporting visits to the station by external groups such as Beavers and inspiring younger generations with his supportive attitude.
