Exeter City have opted for continuity by appointing Matt Taylor as their new manager.

The Grecians announced this morning that long-serving boss Paul Tisdale is leaving the club after opting not to sign a new deal following notice being served on his two-year rolling contract in November 2016.

They have acted quickly, announcing Taylor as Tisdale's successor.

A statement said: "The club board met this afternoon and have appointed Matt Taylor as the new manager of Exeter City Football Club."

Taylor - a former Grecians player - was the manager of the under-23s side last season, helping them to a successful Premier League Cup campaign that was ended at the hands of Wolves.

The club have declined to make further comment, but Taylor will be available for interviews early next week.

Fans have reacted positively to the move online, with the club appointing someone familiar with the club's youth system.
