1. Needless to say, self-consciously hiding such causes for a supposedly scientific view would be still worse.

2. With apologies to Plato. Here the object is not a pure form but the immensely complex object called ‘social life’, which can project shadows of many different kinds.

3. People like Wynne believe that the two cases we mention should be assimilated to the others as matters of framing. But there is much more going on than framing.
