Everyone deserves to get home safely. Yet each year, road workers are seriously injured or killed on the job – often due to speed limits not being followed. Our new campaign reminds us to slow down and follow the speed limit around worksites. Reduced speed limits around worksites have been designed to keep both you and road workers safe. Slow down around worksites. It's also the law and penalties apply. Find out more https://lnkd.in/gTbeD_9x

Regional public transport has never been more affordable since the capping the daily regional fares at the same price as the daily metro fare one year ago. With more than 22 million trips taken since the fare cap commenced, Victorians are embracing regional travel. Fairer regional fares are helping to ease household budgets, meaning Victorian families can focus on what matters—travelling for work, holidays and events. More Victorians have been able to explore and discover the diversity and wonders of our great state and support the businesses and tourism operators who make it so. • We’re continuing our shared commitment to equity, inclusion and diversity through the Traffic Management Reform (TMR) program’s sponsorship of the Indigenous Traffic Controller of the Year Award at the Traffic Management Association of Australia (TMAA) Excellence Awards. Our TMR program is made up of a range of initiatives that create a more consistent and safety-focused approach for how traffic management activities are planned and delivered, including introducing a new accreditation program, creating nationally recognised traffic management qualifications, and recognising and celebrating diversity and inclusion in the traffic management industry. The Indigenous Traffic Controller of the Year Award recognises outstanding service and contribution from Indigenous traffic controllers across Australia, and this years winner Cheryl (Chez) Davis exemplifies exactly that. We’re excited to see people like Chez, and the TMR program transform traffic management in Victoria, prioritising the safety of workers, drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. Find out more about the TMR here https://bit.ly/4aNVHzy.

Following a successful trial in Ballarat, digital driver licences will soon be available in VicRoads' myVicRoads app and the Service Victoria app. In May, more than 4.5 million Victorians who are fully licenced drivers, motorcyclists, or heavy vehicle operators will be the first eligible to download digital driver's licences. Digital licences have undergone rigorous privacy and security testing, boasting features like a dynamic hologram and a timed QR code that businesses and authorities can scan to verify authenticity and prevent fraudulent use. The licences can also be updated in real-time if there are changes to licence conditions or personal information like home addresses. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/gtGhcsY5.

We’re continuing to review e-scooter safety and compliance measures for the use of e-scooters in Victoria before introducing permanent regulations later this year. Data gathered during the trial period shows most e-scooter users are doing the right thing, however it also indicates that more time is needed to improve compliance and make e-scooters safer, and support riders to understand the rules. E-scooter riders must follow these rules, or penalties apply. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/gfe9NVtK.
