I spent a lot of time watching reviews to figure out should I get an apple watch? If so which one? I looked at a lot of comparison videos and reviews between the 3, SE, and 6.I decided that since I just wanted it more for the basic things and I didn't want to spend a lot of money that a series 3 would be fine. I waited for a sale and decided it was worth the price to get it.I have had it a little over a week now. Here are my thoughts after this week or so:The Good:*notifications on your wrist-This feature is great! I am always out walking my dog and on occasion, he will see a squirrel and lose all his manners leaping with all his force. During times like this, my previous phone had flown out of my hand when he yanked his leash. Luckily, it didn’t get damaged. I recently got the newest iPhone 12 and didn’t want to risk holding my phone while walking him. Having an apple watch makes it so if I get a notification while I am out walking him I do not need to get my phone out. This was a selling point for me to get the watch. You can also quickly message back with a voice to text feature or draw out each individual letter. There are also pre-made responses to texts that you can just tap, just be careful you don’t hit one that would be an inappropriate response.I have found it useful to have the notifications on my wrist all the time! I find I spend less time on my phone scrolling because I don't need to have my phone out to see if a notification was important. Before I had the watch, every time I would get a notification then I would do a scroll through all my social media. This is good for me since the first few months of the pandemic I was incessantly scrolling and this has helped me cut that down. Also, with the pandemic, I didn't want to have to get my phone out when I go into a store or other outside area possibly transferring germs from my hands to my phone. It feels a lot safer to just flick my wrist and see the time/notifications. Another handy feature on the wrist, it has a “flashlight” which really just makes the screen white. I didn’t think much of it at first but it is surprisingly helpful if you are trying to open a door in the dark or navigate a room in the middle of the night.*Sleep tracking-I had previously been using my iPhone to track my sleep which was much less accurate. Now I sleep with the apple watch on and it tracks my sleep much better. I could get a pretty accurate reading of how much I actually sleep each night. This is great as well because I have set the alarm to wake me up with a haptic buzz on my wrist. It is a much gentler way to wake up. I can also quickly hit a “snooze” right from my wrist if I am still sleepy.*Complications-You can change the watch face so that it has all of your needed apps on the face (or complications). I have a face that allows me to see the time, weather, stopwatch, activity rings, and an app I use called "hindsight" to track stuff like the last time I walked the dog.*Data!-I love all the data it collects in general. There are activity rings to incentivize you to stand, move, and exercise. There is an app to remind you to breathe. It keeps track of your heart rate which is great to know. There is just a bunch of data for you to look at and think about in the "health" app. I find myself wanting to stand or move a bit more because I am reminded I haven't done it much. This is really helpful during the pandemic for those of us working from home and we are moving much less than we did last year. The bad:*Storage-It says it has 8 GB of storage. I got it and quickly realized it only has 4.3 GB listed as the capacity and once my apps have been downloaded and the new update. It has about 2 GB of storage left. This is not a lot. I did some online searching and found out this is a common complaint from owners with the series 3. So, if you were planning on downloading a bunch of stuff to the watch itself then this would not be a good option. You would want to upgrade to the SE or higher as they start around 32 GB of storage.*Updates:-The series 3 has the newest update (as of writing this) to OS7 for the apple watch, but this is rumored to be the last update for the series 3. Which makes sense given the storage capacity. So, keep in mind if you get the series 3, it will probably stop being updated after this most recent update which means you may miss out on cool features.*Exercise ring and walking-It doesn't record my "walking" as exercise often. My friend and I went on a walk for over an hour. This was a "brisk" walk as apple indicates it needs to be to get exercise credit. This walk was high endurance with our heart rates up. My friend is a tall, fit man. I am a little taller than average, curvier woman. The apple watch granted me 8 minutes of exercise after walking over an hour. The apple watch gave my friend 45 minutes towards his exercise goal. I was quite upset. I noticed this was a trend. I did more web searching and found this is a problem with the apple watch, which (surprise surprise) seems to affect women. This was pretty upsetting for me. Apple doesn't have a "fix" for this issue. It recommends a bunch of stuff like pairing and unpairing, recalibrating, etc which I tried and it did not fix the issue. Then it just comes down to them saying that everyone has a different target rate for a "brisk walk" but why would my friend who a fit tall man whose heart rate is lower than mine still be getting all these minutes awarded but not myself? Seems suspicious. I may exchange the watch for another one, but I don't think that will fix this "glitch" but it might be worth a try.*screen doesn't seem that durable-It has already started to gain some light surface scratching on the screen. They can mostly be rubbed out but it is still frustrating. I'm really careful with my things, but it is a watch so you may occasionally have it brush against things just by being on your wrist.I'm really enjoying it overall! I think it is worth the price I paid. I need to charge it every about 1 1/2 days. So the battery life doesn't seem too bad. I watched some videos about how to maximize the features such as turning on a greater haptic buzz etc which could also lessen battery life. I also notice if my friends are messaging a lot in a group message then the battery goes down more (obviously) so at that point, I usually just mute their messages on the watch. I am mostly just wondering if I should exchange it to see if I got a "defective" watch or if I should upgrade to a 6? The features are not that much greater in the 6 for my needs so I probably won't but given the storage and future updates, I am considering. If you're thinking about getting an apple watch, I say go for it! It has been great the past week.Update as of 12/16/2020:*Apple introduced Apple Fitness+. My watch tried to update this morning. I got a notification that this update failed as it takes 2.5 GB. There is no way to do this update to get this feature as there just isn't enough memory on the watch. I am leaning more towards returning now as it is now obsolete aside from the standard features.Update 12/18/2020:*They fixed the update problem and now the series 3 is able to do the most recent update. It did last night. I also got a free trial to Apple + Fitness since I bought the watch around the holidays. I will activate that trial next week and see how the watch works with it! I am still concerned about the lack of memory on the watch so I am thinking about returning still but I will ride it out a little longer.Update 01/03/2021:I ended up returning the series 3 and getting the SE instead. The more I read the more I realized how bad this issue with memory was going to be for the future of using the watch. In order to do future updates due to lack of memory I would have had to completely unpair the watch. I am really happy with the SE. I’ve had it a little over a week. It’s not so bulky and sits closer to the arm. It will also last me a few years instead of becoming obsolete within a month of purchase.Lastly the Apple fitness + feature is good for getting some movement. I’ve been using it almost every day to do the HIIT and dance workouts. It probably doesn’t compare to a gym experience but it is welcomed to get more movement during the pandemic.

I bought the Apple Series 3 40mm mostly as a lark for my birthday. The $199 price point seemed too good to pass up. I’ve never worn a smart watch before, and I have to say...I’m enjoying this watch far more than I imagined. The move tracker is good and I like the calories and workout tracking functions. Checking heart rate during workouts is something I hadn’t been able to do before. It’s also a life saver when you’re out and about. The phone rings or chimes and you don’t have to fish it out of your pocket in the middle of grocery shopping. This is especially nice right now, since we’re wearing masks and trying to minimize surface contact. If you’ve got your AirPods in, you can answer a call without any hassle.
Also great for controlling music and podcast playback and volume remotely. I can sit in the pool and change music playing from my phone sitting 20 feet away.
All in all, a fun and functional device that looks good and makes using your phone a little more convenient.

I'm middle-aged (I'll be fifty years old in a few weeks) with a family history of heart disease, so I decided to make an investment in my health. I bought my Apple Watch (Series 3 42mm Space Gray) to monitor my heart rate and to keep track of my level of physical activity (the gyms in my area are closed until January 11 at the earliest due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so I occasionally exercise (quietly) in my apartment). This Series 3 watch delivers precisely what I was looking for and more. In addition to monitoring my heart rate and physical activity, I can check emails, maps, view photos, etc (and, yes, it's also a really nice watch). This smartwatch doesn't completely replace my phone, but it can do a lot. By the way, although I'm middle-aged, I'm in decent health, so I don't need fall detection or an electrocardiogram. If you need these features, you probably should look at another device (eg, the Series 6).

Now for my only caveat (and it's a pretty important one): Allergies. Specifically, I have a nickel allergy and developed a slight rash after wearing my watch for about a day. Apparently, however, the nickel content in the device is negligible; and I've gotten rashes from wearing watches before due to things like sweat buildup. I suspect that's what's happening here. Nevertheless, if the problem persists and I think the watch itself is to blame, I'll update this review. Otherwise, I highly recommend this smartwatch.

There is a reason why the Apple watches are so highly rated. Great features- on the face I get
temperature and battery life read outs. I also have a timer on the face, which I use all the time.
It tracks my daily bicycle riding. I receive phone calls on my wrist, very convenient. Very
reliable, no issues. The watch bands easily detach and can be interchanged. Multiple watch
face choices. The battery lasts a full day and is easy to charge with the magnetic adapter.
They claim it is water resistant, but I am cautious about that and keep it dry. Easy to use,
once you get set up. Overall, it is a great convenience and well worth it. It measures pulse,
but not EKG or oxygen levels like the series 6. However, I just purchased a stand alone
oxygen sensor from Amazon for under $20. It does not have the 911 calling feature if you
fall, so if you need that feature you need the series 6. Otherwise, this is a real workhorse,
For iPhone users, I can not imagine not having this convenience! Dan

I didn’t really know what to expect when I first got it, I really hoped I would like it because it has such a large price. It’s really made me think about how much I need to exercise.

The Activity app rewards you for workouts you do with trophies on the activity page. There are apps that can remind you to drink water, take a moment to breathe and also count your sleep. It’s definitely motivated me to be more active and take care of myself.

There’s also the super useful feature of being able to answer back to texts. You can either talk to your watch to do text-to-speech or you can draw letters out to form sentences. As well as text, you can call people using your watch and talk to them with no problems.

Overall, a very nice product. If you’re lucky enough to get one at the price I got (26% off) that’s even better, but it would still be worth how much it costs had I not had that discount.

If you're looking for an Apple watch, you found the right spot.
As describe by Apple, this watch has the possibility for many features. It has some nice customizable features to your lifestyle. I personally like to use the fitness apps for my lifestyle. I think Apple does a great job with fit tracking information and collection. The watch band fits nicely and has no issues throughout the day. Due to my job, I have added a third party watchface protector. I just don't to take my chances with a broken screen and those problems. I will add, if you get your watch wet, the underneath part will stay wet for a while against your wrist. This is something that annoys me personally, so I just remove my watch when I know my arms/hands are going to be wet.
My only setback that I with the watch is the limited amount of memory the watch has. I'm not one that has a lot of apps on my watch, but still it is just not enough. I am unable to update my watch due to the watch being filled up with minimal running apps. Pro/Con not really. I really don't think that the watches updates would really change any of the performance so not a bother to me.
Overall - Not a bad watch. If you're looking for a watch to get some basic phone features at the touch of your finger, then this watch will do. It's simple and slick. I do think that it makes some of my life's duties easier, but not astronomically.
