Over at TouchArcade, we've been running around like maniacs all week getting ready for the WWDC and E3 double header that we're about to fly to the West Coast for. The event scheduling gods were kind to us this year, allowing us to attend both events.

For whatever reason, the last few years have had WWDC and E3 taking place on the same week, and we'd opted to attend E3 over WWDC as it's a overall safer bet that there will be more relevant things for us at a gaming event. With WWDC tickets shifting to being luck of the draw, it's entirely possible that there just won't be that many iOS game developers for us to talk to. Either way, better late than never, read on for the big things that happened this week in the world of iOS gaming.

The roundups are useful.
If you care not to read, just move on. Life is one click away

it fills up my timeline. i don't want that.

"get"? Are they calling you up and reading the article to you? It's one article a week. Would you like to get rid of it to make more room for watch band coverage?

Or, you could see the instantly recognizable pattern of the title and just skip over it.

it's in my twitter timeline.
"but then you can just unfollow"
twitter is my new RSS feed. if i unfollow, then i won't be able to get updates for new articles. so unfollowing is not an option for me.

Not required reading nor commenting. Some of us actually do appreciate these roundups.

some of us actually don't appreciate these roundups. feel free to comment back. which then i will comment back on why i disagree with you and we will be stuck in an infinite loop.

Wait, you're reading on twitter and you're complaining about getting one message a week that you don't care for? Twitter is the land of unwanted messages. Add a filter in your twitter client to filter out messages containing the word "TouchArcade", and be done with it. Don't ask MacRumors to kill a minor feature that a lot of people like in order to save you the heartbreak of receiving 140 characters a week that you don't desire. I don't care much about football, but I don't insist the TV networks stop showing it or mentioning it, I simply skip past it.

perhaps learning to moderate your twitter feed would alleviate your aversion to the touch arcade roundups. just a thought. if not, we can continue this next week when you post, then I post. ouroboro style.

i added toucharcade to my list of keywords last year in tweetbot and yet i still saw this in my feed. i had to reset my account cache. mute filters aren't 100% working in tweetbot.

not one message, it's MANY. it's annoying having to create a new filter for every new thing macrumors comes up with. for example, they started doing "ICYMI" (in case you missed it) tweets a while back where they tweet the link again at a different peak hour. so i started muted muting ICYMI. then they started doing variations of ICYMI, like actually typing out the words "in case you missed it", or "in case u missed it", or saying "this week's top stories", or calling it "round ups", etc...

and yes, i did setup a mute filter last year for "toucharcade" and i still saw the tweet in my feed. i did a reset account cache and saw it disappear so i can only assume that streaming tweets (the way tweetbot retrieves the tweets) aren't hitting the mute filters properly.

This sounds much more like an issue / series of issues with the way that MacRumors manages their twitter feed, rather than being a problem with any particular story. Have you given them direct feedback on this?

FWIW, I despise "In case you missed it" style messages via any medium (aside from "the meeting you're required to attend started two minutes ago") - such messages just add needless/unwanted noise - it's everyone trying to shout louder to be heard, it just hurts eardrums without increasing communication.

i've tweeted at them many times about the ICYMI and other things i didn't like, they ignored all of them.
however, i've tweeted at their twitter account about unrelated rumors, and usually got a response so they do check the twitter mentions for sure.
