Apple today announced that it is temporarily pausing its "Today at Apple" programming as a precautionary measure amid the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, with sessions canceled at all Apple Stores in the United States and Canada until further notice.

"Today at Apple" typically offers free hands-on group sessions focused on photography, video, music, coding, art and design, and more at Apple Stores.

I was at a Apple Store yesterday and it was weird.

At first we thought they were closed.

They only allowed a certain amount of people in at one time.

I think govs and people are overreacting. Most people will suffer more due to the economic crisis that is looming than due to the virus...

They're not. Italy was unlucky , as we were the first European country to face the emergency. Up until last week everyone here was in denial, like you. Ski resorts were full of people, everyone was enjoying the weekend at the beach or window shopping. We wasted a week with mild actions like closing bars but not restaurants, and now we have to put patients in a former fair pavilion as there is no more room in hospitals.
China put the Whuan region in a complete lockdown and they're now reopening their stores as they were able to contain the spreading of corona virus. Some people in Italy advocated for similar measures last month, they were ridiculed and now we are in a lockdown, so they were right. The sooner you take measure, the better for your health and your economy too. If you're able to contain the spreading you won't have hospitals full of people and you'll have less sick people at home, not able to work even if they don't need to be cured in hospitals.

Meanwhile Tim Cook panics as he has to shift his focus to the...products.

Tim: Lets talk about our contrib-
Board: Tim, love you diversified, but are you going to make these products worth buying?
Tim: Oh well see it's time to retire. So I nominate...oh Bob Iger your masterclass--.
Board: He has retired
Tim: Lets talk about our contribution to elder health.
Board: Someone get Scott Forstall back
Tim: He's mean...and he makes people do bad things...you'll see, YOU'LL ALL SEE (runs into the nearest room).
Board: He does know that's a utility closet?

Tim: (muffled) Hey look an Apple TV, I sell these right?
Another muffled voice in the closet: Yes sir you do.
Tim: Oh hi Donald, what you doing here?
Donald: Apparently some Mexicans put a virus in a beer, and they teamed up with China...
Board: He knows we can still hear him right?

Tim: Have you considered putting usb c cables in all your presentation rooms Donald?
Donald: Only if they're USA cables.
Tim: Look board, I make sell. Me good CEO! (comes out clapping like a monkey)
Board: Okay, where did he get that aluminum vest?

(suddenly a being on emense girth comes crashing through the window)
Board: JOHNNY IVE!

(fyi this was just in good fun, Tim brought the world the Watch, AirPods and got the iPhone 6 out...)

In regards to Apple, I don’t suspect things will normalize for a while. [And my definition of a ‘while’ is undefined, because I’m not sure anyone {Including Apple} really knows how long this will continue to prolong.

Only for people who don't understand the power of exponential growth. Yeah, there's a bad pun in there.

I'd say a lot of people without some kind of technical background don't.

More overreaction to a mild virus. Shocker.

They're 100% overreacting. People keep using Italy as an example. There's a few thousand people that have died... out of 60 MILLION. It's such a miniscule amount it's barely measurable. But the news and media keeps pumping people full of fear, so here we are.

It is actually measurable... 1000 out of 60,000,000 is 1.7 out of 100,000. Yes, that's pretty small. Until you remember that 800 of them have come this week (1.3 out of 100,000), that it's on an upward trajectory and that the flu and pneumonia typically only account for 9.14 deaths out of every 100,000 Italians across the whole year.
