Apple Seeds First Beta of watchOS 7.1 to Developers

Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming watchOS 7.1 update to developers for testing purposes, one day after releasing the watchOS 7 update.

To install the ‌watchOS 7‌ beta, developers need to download the proper configuration profile from the Apple Developer Center. Once the profile is in place, the ‌‌watchOS 7‌‌ beta can be downloaded through the dedicated ‌Apple Watch‌ app on the iPhone by going to General > Software Update.

To update to the new software, the ‌Apple Watch‌ needs to have 50 percent battery life, it must be placed on the charger, and it must be in range of the ‌‌iPhone‌‌.

There's no word yet on what's new in the watchOS 7.1 update, but we'll update this article with details if changes and new features are discovered.

I have a new Apple Watch S6 coming tomorrow, thx for warning!! Also. Wow I have never seen a point release break so much stuff. It must be a different fork. I mean, I don't get it.

Well this is Beta software. If you are not Apple Watch App developer there is no reason to install it. Wait for the final versiob of watchOS 7.1 instead.

stripes, Memoji, artist and Typograph are missing.

GMT, Chronograph Pro and Count up are still there

Usually it does, but I've been having battery issues ever since the 1st beta of WatchOS 7.
Went from a full day, night and another full day on WatchOS 6, to a full day, night and a couple of hours on 7.

So they only dropped the rubbish ones!

The artist one is really bad, what were they thinking with that one?

It seems absolutely beautiful to me! So smooth and silky. A few of the watch faces added in watchOS 7 are missing, so be warned of that. But otherwise I fully recommend this. Love it! Thank you for the fast new beta, Apple!

They were thinking pass the weed please....

My post earlier regarding the missing things was really more pointed at S6 owners who may install 7.1 and suddenly lose the blood oxygen feature with no way of rolling back.

When I have had issues with battery during beta I would unpair and pair again. Generally within a day I was back to normal. There have been times that nothing would help and I barely made it through the day. Try pairing again and see if it helps at all.

Thanks for the warning. I didn’t look at the notes. I’m receiving an S6 and giving my S4 to my daughter so I held off on the update so she would only have version 7 installed. I just might have updated the S6 and wondered what was up.

Might be worth updating if it fixes the music bug. When playing a playlist it only plays one or two songs then acts like it played the whole playlist.

I apologize if this has been mentioned. But before the GM beta, my watchOS series 4 would crash, and not come back on until I plugged it in. I had more than enough battery left over. It kept happening with the GM, and even re-paired it to the watch. Is anyone else having random crashes that are like this? I updated to the watchOS 7.2 Beta, hoping this fixes it. So we'll see, when I reach about 20%. Please share your thoughts and wisdom! thank you!

That’ll teach me not to read before updating. Missing the new faces, luckily I have some new bands to “play” with ;-}

It's a shame to loose the new faces. I should have remembered this from last year. I wonder how long till they reappear in the next beta...It seems kinda stupid to have a beta ready to test with missing features. They could have waited a couple says and brought it up to speed with the released version at least. What good does it do to test incomplete betas...

My Series 3 has been randomly rebooting throughout the day (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/series-3-rebooting-after-watchos-7.2255209/) <--- like this through all the betas. I was dismayed when GM still had the bug present. Full resets and setting up fresh or anything of the like isn't helping. Anyone in the same boat on 7.1? I'll go beta again just to get stability back. Would have loved to have gotten stability back with GM, but here we are....

So will all this stuff possibly get fixed in a further BETA release?? Or are we just stuck out now?
